Excellent Book
Review by Marcy
While this book is written for an upper elementary age student, I really wanted to a Geography of the Holy Land class for my high schooler. I'm so glad I ordered this book! We have both learned so much and it is our favorite class this year. I've supplemented with historical fiction, videos (music, culture, and geography) and documentaries, and as the end of the year draws near, we're sad to be finishing up. We love that it's Biblically based and ties everything back to scripture. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about the geography of the Middle East.
Beautiful
Review by Holli
I have never learned about this section of the world and was so excited to start this book with my 10-year-old. I read it aloud to him and he answers all the questions. We are both learning so much from this book and he really enjoys drawing the maps and gaining a sense of where everything is located. The pictures are beautiful and even my 5-year-old wants to see them and know what they are showing.
We started this early

Just WOW!!!
Review by Julie
A Child's Geography Vol. 2: Explore the Holy Land is an absolutely beautiful curriculum. I was excitedly waiting for it to come out, but I couldn’t even imagine how wonderful it is, even better than I expected! It’s colorful, biblically sound, interactive, engaging, loaded with knowledge and fun activities for kids to solidify their learning. I personally didn’t know some of the things I learned there, and I’m happy for my kids to be able to learn it. I’d agree that it is for upper elementary age, but I’m sure even little ones can listen in and learn something from it. It’s a history with geography with Bible curriculum all in one. It talks about significant historical places of the Holy land. It is in the format of like a discussion with the child. Absolutely beautiful work! I highly recommended!

The Holy Land
Review by SarahT
Designed for 5th-grade students and a three-day-a-week study, this resource gives great insight into the various places and lands of the three major religions of the world today.  Full-color photos, recipe ideas, and fun activities are found throughout the book!  Each chapter ends with an Adventure Challenge (short quiz to test student knowledge) that would easily be completed individually or as a verbal assessment.   Reference maps are included in the back of the book for additional student resources.  Additional resources include quizzes and tests and a final exam if desired. Very good family resource for studying the Holy Land!**This honest review was made after receiving the digital version of this resource for free.
Amazing Biblically Sound Geography Course
Review by Becky
As a big fan of Volume 1, Explore His Earth, I was so excited to see that Volume 2, Explore the Holy Land, had been updated. This series is phenomenal. My kids love Explore the Holy Land because it is written to them, for them, instead of at them.

In this volume of A Child's Geography, you get to take a journey through the countries that make up the Holy Land, which includes Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. Also touched on, at an age-appropriate level, are the differences between Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, the major religions of this area.

This book is set up to follow a 36 week schedule, 3 days a week, allowing you to study each country for 4-6 weeks. I really appreciate this length of time because I find that my kids remember more as we are able to dig deeper.

Some stand-outs for me are as follows. The pictures included in the text are absolutely beautiful. The adventure challenges have great variety from lesson to lesson, so the worksheets never gets boring. I love that there is map work included. My kids love the travel logs at the end of each part, and their favorite thing to do are the tasty tours and trying out new foods. My favorite is the walk of prayer at the end of each country, it is such an amazing way to study geography.

As one who does as much family learning as possible, I have found this to be flexible in adapting to different ages and levels of learning. This course is a great addition to any homeschool family! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a biblically sound geography course.

A Child's Geography: Explore the Holy Land

Book Review for A Child’s Geography: Explore the Holy Land
Oh, the variety and flexibility this book provides! The conversational approach to the text and scenic pictures in this book makes it an excellent read aloud resource for our whole family. This is a great book to read as a family, and then dig deeper with older ones throughout the day. The author invites the student to look at the geography of countries at both a closeup and broader view. One moment you are squeezing through narrow alleyways as you shop in a bazaar in Turkey, and next you are hopping onto a helicopter to observe the entire country as you imagine what the shape of Turkey looks like as well as identify the surrounding bodies of water. I appreciate how the author shares relatable examples to explain concepts. The unique Fairy Chimney rock formations of Cappadocia don’t seem as hard to understand when we grab a baseball cap, go for a walk, and observe the protections we receive from the rain and sun.
The activities are diverse and incorporate a variety of learning styles. My younger children (ages five and eight) enjoy listening to the text and getting involved with the maps, oral memory joggers, art, and cooking activities. The bold and italicized words help my ten-year-old to practice reading for important information independently. They are also helpful developing his budding notetaking and test taking skills. We like to make study notecards to help us apply what we’ve learned to the written assignments. My ten-year-old prefers to do short answer portions of the written assignments orally but loves to write his own entries into the travel log to record what he found most interesting. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of writing activities at the end of each travel log. Our highlights have been writing a poem and imagining ten ways you would improve a country if you were the child president for a day. Most importantly, I love how the author continually acknowledges and gives all glory and praise to God for His amazing creation of all the earth.

Beautiful!
Review by Danielle
Explore the Holy Land is a beautiful and informative addition to our homeschool. I love being able to explore the countries we read about in the Bible. The course is bringing this history to life in a new and powerful way for our family. The author is able to weave Bible history, geography, and current information about these areas together seamlessly. The narrative style reads like an interesting discussion with a friend. And the pictures are gorgeous! I always skim through material before reading it with my children and I found myself just staring at all the gorgeous photos. This course includes a variety of activities for my children, including oral discussion questions, map work, a travel log, fill in the blanks, etc. There is also an easy to follow course schedule included. Though we always adapt our schedules, I appreciate being able to easily keep track of where we are and what still needs to be done. I highly recommend this homeschool resource to anyone who wants to learn more about this area and to “see” the history in the Bible in a new way.
I received this e-book for free in exchange for my honest review.
Great Course
Review by Lacee
I've been a fan of Ann Voskamp for a long time and I am thrilled that Master Books is refreshing the courses! I received an e-copy for my honest review but I can't wait to buy a physical copy to add to our homeschool shelf!

I LOVE the conversational style and the gorgeous pictures throughout the book. I also love the cooking aspect and the prayer walk, and of course the making maps sections! You will need access to a NASB Bible (I use an app) and you will need a globe. There is only one thing I change, and it's not a big deal, but I'm not a fan of Review days on the first day of the week so we just add it to the week before for those 8 chapters that have review days on the first day of the following week. This is a great course to add to our homeschool journey!
