Very Engaging Stories
Review by Lexie
This 'What a Character!' series is simply amazing for all ages. My kids are loving reading the books, not realizing how much history they are learning in the process. I've learned so much about the character of different people in history that I can now see through a new light. This book is very engaging and has lots of pictures intertwined within the text to help keep little readers/listeners engaged while still providing rich text to keep the attention of an active reader. We loved the chapter on James Monroe - a president we were not too familiar with before reading this book. One fact that my children found fun was that his mother taught him math using farming and practical teachings - such as lumber measurements. They (my children) said they have a lot in common with James Monroe because I'm constantly finding ways of getting them to understand how to practically use math instead of just in a text book. The book is wonderful at defining words that might be troublesome for the student, putting them in the text as well as in a glossary. I highly recommend this to any homeschooling family wanting to find clean, quality reading options.
Amazing American Presidents
Review by Santina
Amazing American Presidents is a fantastic deep dive into the history surrounding each president. It is much more than just reading facts about each president. The vocabulary words, definitions, glossary and corresponding curriculum suggestions are consistent with the other books in the series. It is a great addition to all of the America's Story series and would be very helpful for students wishing to research and write a paragraph for an assignment in their Language Lessons books (particularly those using Language Lessons in upper middle school and above). This book (and all the series) are a great way to incorporate multiple subjects into the school day.
Fun History Addition!
Review by Crystal
Our family loves all the books in this series, and this one is no exception! We really enjoy the brief, yet interesting biographies of interesting people. I like how the author chose some well-known presidents, but also added in a few that we don’t tend to study in depth. I also appreciate how each president’s faith in God is reflected in the story. This series is a great addition to a morning basket, and we enjoy adding them in to supplement our American History studies.
Encouraging
Review by Yulia
Amazing American Presidents is an important addition to the series. I like that the author chose these particular 10 presidents and highlighted their walk with God. It was interesting to learn about their childhoods and upbringings. It was encouraging to learn about lives and struggles of these incredible men and God's providence and protection in their lives. Kids can learn in this book that they can achieve a lot of things under the guidance and providence of God if they only seek and follow Him. Anything is possible with God. Beautiful and gentle enough stories for upper elementary an up. Great read aloud or an addition to any history course.
I love the books in this series!
Review by Kathleen C
This book covers ten presidents. It includes their upbringing, character, and the life decisions that shaped them. There are examples of where God preserved their life and how each man allowed God to guide him. We learned something new about each man. It was so encouraging to hear the stories of them praying for the people of their country. To hear stories about how these men were with their families was very engaging. We especially loved reading about how James Garfield’s children rode their bicycles down the marble staircase in the White House.

I recommend this book. The stories are engaging for both parents and children.

A Great Addition to this Series!
Review by Becky V.
Another great addition to the What a Character! series. Amazing American Presidents dives into the lives and accomplishments of 10 American presidents. From Washington to Reagan, and many in between, the stories of these presidents are made real and brought alive.

While geared toward 6th grade and up, we love using this series as a read-aloud to go alongside our history spine or as independent readers for my upper elementary kids. I often find these books missing as my kids have grabbed them to read on their own! We will be using this to supplement Meet the Chief (also by Master Books) to dig deeper into the lives of some of the presidents.
Engaging and Educational
Review by Dawn
This fun book from Masterbooks shares the stories of ten of America’s Presidents. Each chapter tells the story of a different president, their lives, their faith, and their accomplishments. It includes vocabulary words and definitions on the pages for words that might be more difficult for students. This would make a great supplement for a history curriculum but also works well for students who enjoy nonfiction independent reading.
Presidents!!
Review by Dustie
What an encouraging book about some of the most influential presidents in our nation’s history. It is neat to learn about their upbringing, lives, and presidencies.
This book is great for independent reading, as it is fun and has definitions for words that may be unfamiliar or difficult for younger readers to understand. It would make a great read-aloud or morning basket addition. These stories would also be really fun to include with corresponding history lessons, and there’s even a list in the back of the book that notes potential books to pair each chapter with.
Overall, I highly recommend this entire series of books for every homeschool library. They’re such a fun way to learn bits of history.
