Meet the presidents!
Review by JoyfulMommy
I love these stories to better acquaint us with some of our amazing presidents! It’s inspiring to hear how so often it was humility and a servant heart that led to their great leadership - wonderful examples for our students! This book series is great for bringing history to life for my late elementary readers, but having the audiobook makes it useful for the entire family as we listen together in the car or while doing quiet activities. Complements America’s Story wonderfully!
Amazing American Presidents
Review by Santina
Amazing American Presidents is a fantastic deep dive into the history surrounding each president. It is much more than just reading facts about each president. The vocabulary words, definitions, glossary and corresponding curriculum suggestions are consistent with the other books in the series. It is a great addition to all of the America's Story series and would be very helpful for students wishing to research and write a paragraph for an assignment in their Language Lessons books (particularly those using Language Lessons in upper middle school and above). This book (and all the series) are a great way to incorporate multiple subjects into the school day.
Great Audiobook
Review by Lexie
This 'What a Character!' series is simply amazing for all ages. My kids are loving reading the books, not realizing how much history they are learning in the process. I've learned so much about the character of different people in history that I can now see through a new light. We loved the chapter on James Monroe - a president we were not too familiar with before reading this book. One fact that my children found fun was that his mother taught him math using farming and practical teachings - such as lumber measurements. They (my children) said they have a lot in common with James Monroe because I'm constantly finding ways of getting them to understand how to practically use math instead of just in a text book. I highly recommend this to any homeschooling family wanting to find clean, quality reading options. The reader's voice is very smooth and engaging, making for great road trip listening.
Presidents
Review by Dustie
What an encouraging book about some of the most influential presidents in our nation’s history. It is neat to learn about their upbringing, lives, and presidencies.
This book is great for independent reading, as it is fun and has definitions for words that may be unfamiliar or difficult for younger readers to understand. It would make a great read-aloud or morning basket addition. These stories would also be really fun to include with corresponding history lessons, and there’s even a list in the back of the book that notes potential books to pair each chapter with.
Overall, I highly recommend this entire series of books for every homeschool library. They’re such a fun way to learn bits of history.
