America at 250: Faith & Freedom is a six-week unit study from Master Books designed for families, classrooms, or small groups to explore American history through the lens of faith and freedom. Packed with maps, illustrations, photographs, excerpts from original documents, and vocabulary words, this unit study will get your entire family — from preschool to high school — ready to celebrate the July 4, 2026 Semiquincentennial with gratitude and reverence.

This curriculum connects key historical themes with biblical truths, emphasizing that liberty is sustained by virtue and gratitude. The study covers significant periods and documents, including:

• The Semiquincentennial (America's 250th birthday) and the role of God's providence in the nation's founding.

• The Founding Documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, highlighting their biblical roots and impact on liberty.

• The American Revolution, focusing on the faith, courage, and sacrifices made for freedom.

• The establishment of the Republic, with an emphasis on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the importance of virtue and leadership.

• The individual state's contributions to America's heritage, recognizing God's providence in local and regional events.

• The ongoing responsibility to preserve freedom through faith and civic responsibility for future generations.

Each unit includes five daily lessons that combine historical background with biblical reflection and engaging activities. These activities include hands-on projects, cooking activities, discussion questions, Scripture focus passages, copywork, coloring pages, and family reflections and prayers. The study also suggests optional books and curriculum from Master Books to deepen learning.

Flexible Scheduling Options

Although it’s scheduled for five lessons each week for six weeks, feel free to adjust the schedule. To finish by July 4, 2026, here are two scheduling options:

1. Slower Paced 12-Week Plan — Start by April 13, 2026, doing 2-3 lessons per week
2. Faster Paced 6-Week Plan — Start by Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, doing 5 lessons per week

Flexible for Multi-Age Families

This unit study is a buffet of learning with many options for various ages, interests, and preferred ways of learning. Activities and assignments include all grade levels from preschoolers all the way through high school. Pick and choose what works best for your family.
