No what I was hoping for
Review byMarilyn
Alot of good info in this book, but I felt it was lacking a strong Christian worldview like most mb books would have, very disappointing.

The chapter on black nationalism is misleading
Review byScott
I certainly do not agree with the chapter on black nationalism. It does not help to continue to try and divide the nation. We are all Americans, not Black Americans and white Americans. And there is no excuse for violence, but the text claims that in the 60's they had no choice but to choose violence.

Wonderful Book
Review byTasha
My 4th grader uses America’s Story for history and we love it so I knew I wanted to use this one with my freshman. It’s better than I could have imagined! The lessons are broken down into manageable chunks and there is so much good information packed into this course. Very happy with this purchase!

American History from a Christian Worldview
Review byCaroline
I bought this for myself to learn more about history, as I did not apply myself well enough in high school to really learn much about history. But this has been a fantastic resource, not just to learn history, but to look at it through a Christian & biblical worldview. I look forward to when my children are in high school and get to take this course!

Wonderful High School American History book
Review byKathleen
This is a great high school level American History course. My son and I both liked the way it is written. Every lesson is engaging and thought provoking. I especially like the start of each chapter. You are given a chapter overview and a list of things the reader should be able to discuss, analyze & reflect on by the end of the chapter. I also like the highlighted boxes which pull out key vocabulary or important facts. The use of original book excerpts, speeches, passages and quotes was a great addition to each chapter. One of my favorite parts of the course is the Historical Debate sections. The author explains how not everyone agrees about the topic. He addresses what each side believes and why they believe I. That led to some interesting discussions with my son. More than anything, I fell that this course has prepared my son to be able to understand and comfortably discuss the history of America. *This book uses the same format as the World History student book which was nice to see.

Fantastic, Comprehensive American History Course Using a Biblical Worldview
Review byKelly Ann
Where was this book when I was in high school? History wasn't my favorite subject growing up, but I've developed a true fondness to it as I got older after doing my own reading and studying up on it. This text would have been a treasure to have when I was a teen, because it doesn't get any more engaging than this. I really appreciate that the basis of this course uses a Biblical worldview while teaching about the people and important events throughout American history.
Teens will be begin the course by learning about the Natives of the New World, from there they will be taken on a journey to learn all about the birth of our nation including early colonists, patriotism, the abolishment of slavery, as well as the world power that the United States has now come to be. Major battles/wars (Revolutionary War, Civil War, etc.) and other significant events (creation of the U.S. Constitution, democracy, etc.) that helped change and mold the course of American history are all covered in this text. You are really getting the whole package with this course and what's more, the content is extremely engaging, which makes a subject that some may typically find boring, actually fun and exciting.
Extra features in the book include a Forms of Government glossary, an American History glossary, a chart that shares comparative worldviews when it comes to religion and other cultures, as well as descriptions of the eight major worldviews (Naturalism, Theism, Realism, etc.). I personally appreciate that the revised version also goes all the way up to present day (even mentioning Present Trump and Covid-19), so it really is as up to date as you can get in a history textbook. In addition to the engaging content throughout each lesson, the book contains pages upon pages of beautiful photography and interesting stories to read. The lessons are very comprehensive, so teens are going to receive a well-rounded education in U.S. history upon completion of this course.

Solid
Review byNicole
We have tried several history curriculums in our homeschool journey. I immediately fell in love with this one when I discovered it focuses on providing a biblical worldview from cover to cover. The lessons are short, but full of rich information.

Insightful
Review byYulia
I learned a lot about American history from this textbook. The chapters are short, but insightful and to the point. The author doesn't only discuss history and worldviews, but also many contemporary issues. I really liked how he encourages students to grow responsible Christians, brave and ready to stand up for the truth of God. Beautiful book!
