Reading not only opens the doors to knowledge and imagination but also serves as a cornerstone for academic success and personal growth.
The 2 Keys to Recreational Independent Reading
When encouraging your child to read for fun, there are two primary considerations:

READING DIFFICULTY
How easy or challenging the book is.

READING INTERESTS
How engaging the child finds the format, genre, or topic.
DIFFICULTY: When it comes to difficulty, recreational reading should be relatively easy to ensure enjoyment and foster a feeling of success. So don't be distressed if your child is choosing something below their maximal reading ability. That's a natural choice when reading for fun! In time, your reader will mature into tougher titles.
INTERESTS: When children choose the topics, genres, and titles that appeal to them, they are far more invested in the experience. Of course, it's your role as parent to guide those choices, making sure that the books align with your values and are high quality literature. The booklists that follow will help you choose the best Christian books for your children at all reading levels.
Christian Booklists by Grade Level
We have compiled the following list of our favorite books for kids, by grade level, to help you support your child’s growing independent reading practice. But remember it's far more important to choose a book that best suits your child’s interests and abilities, than to worry about the grade level itself.Â
The books in each group are listed alphabetically, not according to the reading level within the section.
