Very valuable timeline
Review byKathleen C
MasterBooks has done it again. We already love the Big Book of History Timeline. Now we have this timeline for math, science, and technology. I have it up on my wall under the other timeline. My kids enjoy the visual reference. It is a fifteen-foot-long timeline that includes 21 panels. I plan on reading through a panel a week as well as having it up all the time for us to reference. This includes so many people and events. It is very interesting to read. We love all the images, they make the timeline very appealing to look at.

Math in Action!
Review byJoyfulMommy
This timeline book by Katherine Hannon is the epitome of what drew us to Master Books to begin with: solid Biblical worldview and real-life application of mathematics, all pointing us back to glorify our Creator who holds and sustains His creation so faithfully and consistently that man can count on formulas and facts being the same every time because He is true and unchanging! I thought my children would be interested in this timeline, but find myself getting lost in panel after panel of fascinating history and information about place value and symbols in different cultures and different centuries; people who have contributed to the standards of weight, geometry, notation, etc. that we rely on today; math in finances, art, buildings, science, medicine, inventions... you name it! As a child I struggled sometimes to understand why it was necessary to study math. This book/timeline shows just how relevant and integrated math is with all of life! The included study guide gives further information about some of the facts on the timeline and even includes some “taking it further” activities to cement concepts. A fun, out-of-the-box addition to your library!

Fascinating!
Review byYulia
This beautiful timeline shows students that math plays a big part of our daily lives, yet it comes from God. Big Book of Math shows the history in a timeline form about how math has been used since the creation of the Earth all the way until 2023.
It shows different examples of how it changed and adapted from generation to generation, from nation to nation. It is quite entertaining and fascinating to see how different nations perceived such simple but complex things as a number sense and a place value; how math helped Noah to build the Ark; how famous scientists and even philosophers perceived and used math in their lives with astonishing discoveries that we still use today.
The digital copy consists of two books: an actual timeline and a guide which has more explanation for each panel. My 10 year old was pretty fascinated by some facts he was able to research about different calculations, explanations of the practicality of math and how it all still leads us back to God. I am excited to use it even more with my kids to explore the history of math and how beautifully and precisely God has created it and used it in His creation.

A Fun Look at Math!
Review byBecky V.
One of the things that I have realized in homeschooling my children, especially in math, is that if they understand the everyday application and the reason behind something we are learning, they are much more likely to be interested in the subject matter. They also love learning the history behind things and this book does just that!
The Big Book of Math is such a fun way to explore the historical timeline of math. We have loved the other Big Books available, and this one is no different - fun and fascinating to go through, and my kids absolutely love going through it. The layout is well-done and the graphics are so colorful.
I would recommend reading through the guide for this book - it has several suggestions for ways to utilize this resource and it also includes ways that you can dig deeper with some of the topics presented. We will be using this during our morning time to go through the panels throughout the year.

This is a very colorful and detailed timeline of math concepts and discoveries. The included guide helps explain how to best use the timeline. Genealogies, math symbols, pyramid building, art, cooking, and music are among the topics included in this amazing timeline. This is a neat gift for any math, science, or technology lover. It is fantastic for visual learners and would make a really cool addition to a school room wall. It is hard not to see the beautiful consistency of God when we look at math like this!

Such a great addition to our family to connect kids to math!
Review bySara
If you have seen the layout of the Big Book of History, this is the same concept. My daughter is currently using the big book of History with another course and couldn’t believe there was so much information on math! So this was a perfect excuse to introduce her to this timeline! Math can be a subject that my kids instantly want to reject, so I was very interested in other ways of explaining its importance, how it is weaved through creation, and facts that can connect them to what they are learning. The timeline of course begins at creation and has 4 different strands that follow throughout the timeline: science and tech, mathematician and scientists, world events and math happenings.
The layout is very eye appealing and got my kids attention immediately. My kiddos really enjoyed seeing real life applications with math that backs up the tower of babel, the ark, geometry and the pyramids, the steam engine and navigation to name a few.
The guide that accompanies this book helps you incorporate this into your studies. This could be an every Friday kind of subject tackling a panel a week, it could be a wonderful morning basket addition or even pull it out as your child is introduced to a new math concept! The guide goes through each panel, its subject matter and goes into detail the specific things that are on each section of that panel. This is a wonderful timeline/book to have on hand!

Its engaging narratives and real-life applications have made math more relatable and enjoyable for my children. With clear explanations and colorful illustrations, it has helped solidify foundational concepts while also sparking curiosity for more advanced topics.
