Your God-given role as a homeschool mom is critical and will certainly impact the generations that will follow you. To encourage you in your role, our president, Randy Pratt, joined the Master Books podcast to discuss the vital importance of your role in your family and your legacy. Here are just a few points he shared in this very special episode.
Your Divine Purpose
Think of the family as an organization and your discipleship of the family as a way to make the organization flourish. As a home educating parent, you are taking responsibility for helping the individuals in your family to flourish. You are partnering with God for divine purposes, and we are partnering with you to help you accomplish your family’s mission!
In the last few hundred years, families farmed this duty out to other people. Traditionally government employees and church leaders were assigned to the child’s discipleship, development, and academic training. With the wise perspective of seeing children as their legacy, homeschool moms like yourself have taken back the role of managing the growth and development of their children.
The Legacy You Leave

This biblical perspective gives dignity to both the parent and the child. Each one has a God-given purpose which requires prayerful, diligent nurturing. While Abraham is known as the father of many nations, his wife, Sarah, played a tremendous role as the mother of those nations. Just think of how many times the story of their son, Isaac, is taught. God used her faith, her body, and her motherhood profoundly to fulfill His purposes during that generation. Her choices and her story matter to more people than we can imagine and so does yours!
Scriptures to Feed the Homeschool Mom’s Soul
Hebrews 12:1 - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Acts 20:24 - But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Psalm 119:32 - I will run the course of Your commandments, For You shall enlarge my heart.
