"white washed" evangelical version of American history and our founding fathers
Review by Not an Accurate Representation of the American Founding Fathers
I'm a believer and a history buff, so I had high hopes for this curriculum. A few lectures in, however, I realized that what I had was a "white washed" evangelical version of American history and our founding fathers, not an accurate exploration of historical documents and context. (In lecture two, we are told that Columbus came to America, not for exploration or material gain, but to "spread the Gospel." Hardly accurate.) As much as I love the idea of history from a Biblical perspective and exploring the actual texts of the founding documents, I could hardly stomach listening to the lectures.

Why can't we just take an honest look at American history - the good, the bad, and the ugly? I dislike "revised" history, both from a secular and overly spirtiualized context. Sadly, I requested a refund and will not be using this curriculum.
Excellent Bundle

My 12th grade daughter needed this subject to fulfill a 1/2 credit of government. She enjoyed and learned so much from the curriculum.
Enjoyable

My daughter and husband chose to study the Constitution this year. They both have enjoyed it so much, and we have dragged it out for a year since we have done it for 8th grade. The retention that my daughter has with the program has been amazing. She can hear someone speak or catch the news and she will correct what is being stated if it goes against the constitution. We love how in depth it has been.

I got this for my son to fulfill a 1/2 credit of government. It is just what we need. He is enjoying it and I am pleased with the content.
Excellent

My son enjoyed this curriculum so much! He wouldn't stop telling me about all the things he was learning, and how they could be related to today. He blew through it so fast and was almost upset when there wasn't more.
Well done video
Review by Andria
We used this for our Civics high school requirement. Studying the Constitution from a Biblical perspective was important to us, so this curriculum was a good fit. The presenter in the videos was good. Probably our only complaint was he speaks fairly quickly, so catching all the answers wasn't always the easiest task. Great overview is the Constitution, and the information led to a lot of great discussions. We did this class as a family... me, my husband and our 11th grade daughter.
Disappointing.
Review by Denise
I ordered this to be used for a co-op class. I had such high expectations and goals. Unfortunately, five weeks into the class, I realized I had to completely overhaul the order of the lessons and add in material in order to give my students a chance at comprehension.

What I expected was a clear walk through the Constitution and the amendments to help explain our founding document. Instead, I received a murky rant about how our current iteration of Congress has fallen short their responsibilities and "side eye" comments about the legitimacy of certain amendments.

Additionally the pacing of the program makes very little sense. For example, I don't understand why the curriculum writers thought it was a good idea to dive into Immigration in Chapter 5 when the students don't read the source text of the Constitution on naturalization or the amendments until Chapter 6 and 13 respectively. But yet, when we reached the actual source documents of the Constitution, they were crammed into 6 out of the 18 lessons (Articles in lessons #6, 8, 10 and all the amendments in lessons 1-13). The course reading was difficult for me to follow & I have a degree in political science as well as real life experience in working both federal and state government.

I will not willingly teach this course again in the future.

An Engaging, Thought-Provoking Government/Constitution Curriculum
Review by Beth
My 17yo son just completed this curriculum last week for a 1/2 credit of Government. It was fantastic! Every week of the course, he would tell me what he was learning and relate it to current events (Fall 2020...need I say more?!). It really deepened his faith by learning about the writers/signers of the Constitution and why things were written in the document the way they were. If you're looking for an engaging Government/Constitution curriculum, don't hesitate to buy this. I will be using it again in just a few years when my younger teens are in 11th grade.
Great Resource
Review by Angela
This was an excellent resource for my high school student. It gave a great general idea of the constitution and the importance of knowing what was in it. I liked that it was told from a biblical perspective.
