We live in a nation divided across political, racial, cultural, and even religious lines. Can the church regain a position of influence among young people seeking “truth” while rejecting God’s Word?

Christian families are asking, “How do I stop my kids or my grandkids from being swept away by this moral relativism tornado? Divided Nation: Cultures in Chaos & A Conflicted Church provides families and their churches biblical mandates to awaken and arise as influencers in today’s turbulent times. As Christian persecution increases, the Body of Christ needs to prepare to take a bold stand. Ken Ham, CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis-US, the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, and the world-renowned Ark Encounter, sounds the call for Reformation bringing God’s people back to the authority of the Word of God beginning in Genesis.

Can the church regain a position of influence among this generation of “truth seekers” who reject God and His Word? To combat today’s chaotic culture and the conflicted church, Ham addresses five specific issues:

  1. There is no neutral position
  2. There is no non-religious position
  3. There are ultimately only two religions
  4. Creation apologetics
  5. How to think foundationally to develop a truly Christian worldview

Make a stand for the soul of this generation. Divided Nation shines an empowering light on the struggle of the church to retain young believers. Glean from it the issues that must be addressed and find clarity amid the chaos of the culturally conflicted church.

“Divided Nation is an excellent call to Christians, pastors and thinkers alike to return to the supreme authority of God’s Word and the God of all truth.” Jack Hibbs – Calvary Chapel: Chino Hills, CA

Heidi St. John - Author, Speaker, Host of "Off the Bench" with Heidi St. John and Founder of MomStrongInternational.com

Every day it seems our American culture descends further away from the blessing and protection we once enjoyed. Many in the Church, pastors and congregants alike, are unsure how to address the anti-God ideas sweeping politics, education, family, entertainment, social media, and every other sphere of society. This book exposes a root of the problem and offers a strong, biblical solution.

We are living in a divided nation in which, as Christians, we must have undivided unity — striving together for the faith of the gospel. In this insightful book, my good friend Ken Ham faithfully and boldly raises his voice as a clarion call to bring us a timely message in a turbulent time.

Ray Comfort - CEO and Founder of Living Waters

In Divided Nation, Ken Ham gives clear authoritative answers to the overwhelming problems we are facing in our nation. Ken seeks to speaks into the issues and educate us with the absolute truth of God’s Word.

Dr. Johnny Hunt - Senior VP of Evangelism & Leadership NAMB, Former President of the SBC, and Pastor Emeritus FBC Woodstock

I cannot think of a more timely book for the current predicament that we find ourselves in — both as a nation, and as the Church. From the first chapter to the last, Ken Ham masterfully diagnosis the crippling problems that are plaguing both America and the Body of Christ. And more importantly, he gives clear, biblical marching orders for those who are called to be “the light of the world” and “the salt of the earth.” But what makes this book extraordinarily powerful is that the author does more than preach the riveting message found in its pages, he lives it — loud and clear. Prepare to be shaken, awakened, and inspired to do the same.

Emeal ("E.Z.") Zwayne - President, Living Waters

Our nation is adrift on the sea of public opinion and it appears that we, as a culture, now value what “every man thinks is right in his own eyes” over Biblical revelation. The problem we face today may seem overwhelming, but the solution is right in front of us − we must return to the anchor of truth, the authority of God’s Word. Our culture is lost in a storm of bad ideas and social experiments, while the church by and large has untied itself from the moorings of the Bible and is now floundering. Ken Ham’s book “Divided Nation" is an excellent call to Christians, pastors and thinkers alike to return to the supreme authority of God’s Word and the God of all truth.

A foundation inspection
Review by Laura
This book takes us through a journey of how or why our culture has stepped away from Christ. A large number of people will still say that they believe in Jesus but their lives & values don’t reflect the values portrayed in the Bible. In fact some pastors don’t even preach against sin anymore - especially the politically charged topics. All we are left with is a greasy grace gospel. This book addresses those issues by taking us back to the beginning of the Bible. The Bible is what the foundation of ALL our beliefs should be. We need to teach our children the Bible so they have a solid foundation when facing all of the issues in our society.
God's Word vs. Man's Word
Review by JoyfulMommy
In this short but powerful volume, Ken Ham urges pastors, church and ministry leaders, and parents to return to the foundational teaching of Genesis as literal history. Too often, the biblical history of Genesis 1-11 is traded for an acceptance of evolutionary philosophy. As Ken Ham illustrates, this acceptance erodes the foundation upon which the rest of the Bible stands, and is leading to not only the increased secularízation of the church at large, but also the loss of our younger generations in droves. We must be equipped - and equipping - with answers to crucial questions that can and must be answered from Scripture.

If you’re familiar with Ken Ham’s teaching, most of the information in this book will not be new to you. Even so, I found it to be a helpful overview and a solid reminder that truly nothing is neutral; every belief and action that flows from it stands on either God’s Word or man’s word.
Relevant and helpful

Great read for living in the world right now. I knew the world was divided but I didn’t realize how serious the consequences of that are. We need to be looking at many of these issues as life or death because they are. Great knowledge of how we can look at these dividing issues differently to impact the next generation.
Highly relevant; must read
Review by Lacee
A quick, conviction filled read that will help you see where we as a nation have gone wrong and what we need to do within our own families and churches to fix it and why. I think I may gift this book to my husbands class of Expedition Rangers for next year - they have been discussing a lot of deep topics that the secular world and the Bible view differently. This will fit perfectly in and I know they will enjoy reading it.
A great book to help you understand the current state of our nation.

Ken Ham tells us that parents and church leaders need to equip children for the fallen world in which we live. We have a foundation of God's word or man's word. One is either for Christ or against Him. This book will open your eyes as to what happened, why it happened and how to go about dealing with it as we should. I highly recommend this book. You will come away with a better understand of why our nation is in the state that it is currently in. You will also receive some tips/tools to help you navigate your way forward especially in regards to preparing your children for what is to come.
Relevant and Equipping

A DIVIDED NATION
The book opens with this: “America is a divided nation…./The culture is becoming more secularized and anti-Christian. Church attendance has already dropped significantly. But what has happened to the Church? Why have the younger generations been leaving? Why is the Christian message no impacting the culture like it used to?” (pg 8).

The following pages answer these pressing questions beginning with the sobering fact that, “it only takes one generation to a lose a culture” (pg.9) and the truth that the “change in the [current] culture is devastating and catastrophic from a Christian perspective” (pg9).

The call is to Christian to take responsibility and take a stand, to right what we have been negligent in, to hold our leaders and ourselves accountable and to above all understand that there “is no neutrality – no neutral position” (page 13); You are either for God or against God, but “scripture makes it clear there is not neutral position” (pg. 14).

As I read this I could not help but hear Nehemiah’s call in Nehemiah 4:14 “Remember the LORD, who is great and glorious, and FIGHT for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes”. This has long been my battle cry when it comes to educating my children, when I stand firm on the Word, when I make what this world would say is a politically incorrect stand. I will stand on the firm foundation because this is a fight for the next generation.

Ken Ham lays out five areas he believes has been neglected then goes into detail about why and how they have been neglected and what the answer is. Each chapter ends with a section on what parents should and can do and what leaders should and can do. He is unapologetic in placing the blame and responsibility of this on the shoulders first of the parents of children and second on the church and its leaders. It is time to stand firm, to preach and live truth and to lay a foundation.

I am in my 40’s and Ken points out that my generation and those before me were raised in a largely “Christianized” culture, where Christian morals and views permeated all areas, including the school system. I was in the generation when they began to remove the Bible and Prayer from school. I remember my Latin teacher making the statement that we cannot study an ancient language or the history of that time and neglect the influence of Christ upon that time. He was a highly educated man who held a doctorate in Linguistics and Masters in the field of archeology and ancient history (why he was in a high school was beyond my understanding at the time, though now I know it was to lay the foundation for students in an area that was becoming highly secularized). He translated the New Testament into Latin and we spent the next four years as a class translating it back into English – imagine the impact that had! We discussed the history in light of Scripture and he did all this stating the Bible was just another text used to support the historical documents of the time. More than once he was called on to defend his use of the Bible in a classroom setting. I look back on this and am thankful he held to his faith and taught it – always pointing that every passage of the Bible was reliable and if we wanted historical or scientific evidence we never had to look to far. In fact many students stayed to pose questions and to debate topics - he was great at apologetics, with a compassion for teaching truth. This! This is what we need to get back to and is precisely what Ken Ham says – apologetics is KEY! Understanding the why to what we believe is utterly important.
Divided Nation
Review by JC
This book is an easy read, but a challenge when we consider the state of the world, and our children in it. It is not long, at around 150 pages, but it encapsulates a practical and Gospel-centred discussion on the specific issues for the zeitgeist––the spirit of this age. Ken Ham starts with an excellent first point––there is no neutrality––we are either for Christ or against Him. Beyond this, he discusses that obfuscating about God's Creation can be a fatal blow to Christian beliefs. He goes on to explain the hows and wherefores of teaching our children the foundational truth of God's Word. He encourages and equips an apologetics discussion in our homes, one that, he says, is all too often missing. The book is an excellent resource for us parents, and I wonder if it would also make a great devotional for our children as they get older and get ready to face the world, as adults, themselves.
