Incredible read
Review by Samantha
It’s so incredible reading through the lives of those who laid the foundation modern praise and worship! The seemingly ordinary lives of those who committed their hearts and minds to writing beautiful songs of Gods goodness that has lasted throughout the ages. They left behind a treasury of truth and beauty that continues to inspire hearts and lift voices across generations.
Helpful when studying hymns
Review by SB
Famous Hymnwriters begins with the story of Isaac Watts in the 1700’s and ends with Thomas Chisholm in the 1900’s. Nine hymnwriters are discussed in detail, and the final chapter covers 10 more hymnwriters, in less detail. Our family likes to learn hymns and I am glad to have this book to learn more about the hymnwriters. I really like the title pages for each chapter, with the helpful timeline and the excerpt including words and music for one of their hymns. The graphics and highlighted vocabulary words with definitions are also helpful, as is the glossary at the end of the book. The timeline at the end of the book is also very helpful, showing how the hymnwriters fit in with each other in history. I’m thankful to have Famous Hymnwriters as a reference for our family.
