A charming Christian picture book for children ages 3-10 about sibling rivalry, jealousy, and finding identity in God.

Fay Ray is the center of attention at the aquarium until her newly born baby brother steals the show. Missing the adoration of the crowd, Fay turns to her friends for help. Through they mean well, their misguided attempts at making Fay special go nowhere. Ultimately Fay’s mother provides the answer, “You are God’s masterpiece.”

Self-identity is forged in the early childhood years. Lay a foundation of biblical wisdom with the child-friendly example of Fay Ray.

Fay Ray and the Little Brother Who Stole the Show

Fay Ray loves using her talents and beauty to entertain and amaze the Aquarium visitors. But when her tiny baby brother ray is born, suddenly all eyes are on him instead of her. This jolt of inattention is uncomfortable for Fay, and she turns to her community for help.

Unfortunately, their attempts to enhance her outward appearance don’t work at all. The beautiful shells fall off, the seaweed embellishment drifts away, and there’s no way to lengthen her wings by pulling on them! Fay is stuck with the way she is. And no one seems to care about Fay at all now that all eyes are on her little brother.

Fay finds solace in the gentle words of her mother who reminds her that God made her special for a unique purpose. It’s right that her baby brother get attention right now because he’s a newborn. As Fay’s jealousy is erased through God’s truth, the story ends with a sweet brother-sister moment.

Scriptures and Wisdom in this Title

  • The key bible passage for Fay Ray Finds Her Way is Ephesians 2:10 (NLT).
  • The wisdom nugget comes from Fay Ray's mother, “God has plans for you, to bring His name glory in a way that only YOU can!”

This book offers a gentle way to discuss jealousy, showing off, and self-worth with young children, helping them understand that even when they aren’t the center of attention, they are still beloved by God and have a unique role to fulfill.

Cute!
Review by LaceeC
A cute little story about Fay getting a new baby brother. She’s not quite sure she likes having a baby brother, as she quite liked the attention she would get from aquarium visitors watching her tricks and she felt like she was now being forgotten with the attention on him. Her friends try to cheer her up and offer suggestions on how she can be noticed by visitors again. Her mother helped her to understand that she is still special, she is God’s masterpiece, but her brother was new. Then her brother began to swim and asked his sister to help him learn her tricks and she was overjoyed. It’s a cute little story about each of us having a purpose, each of us being God’s masterpiece, and that each and every person is valuable because God made us.
A sweet story
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom, I loved the message in Fay Ray Finds Her Way. The story does a wonderful job of addressing sibling jealousy in a way that young children can easily understand. When Fay struggles with no longer being the center of attention after her baby brother arrives, children can relate to her feelings and learn alongside her.

The illustrations are bright and engaging, and the story opens the door to meaningful conversations about self-worth and finding our identity in God. I especially appreciated that the lesson felt natural rather than preachy.

This was a sweet read-aloud that my younger children enjoyed, and I would recommend it to families looking for a faith-based picture book that encourages children to value themselves and celebrate others.
Such a precious story!
Review by Michelle C.
This story is absolutely precious! Fay Ray feels left out and less special when her baby brother is born. She tries to change how she looks so she will get attention again, but it doesn’t work. Her mom ultimately encourages her with a biblical message.

I think every child may feel like Fay Ray at some point during their childhood, whether due to a sibling being born or a situation with friends. With this book, every child can be encouraged with the truth that God made them for a special purpose.

I especially love how this book depicts the older sibling teaching and helping the younger sibling. This is such a special role for older siblings, especially in the homeschool environment. With simple pictures and a relatable story, this book would be great for younger elementary students, and it presents a great reminder for older students as well.
Sweet, appropriate, and meaningful
Review by M
My 5 year old said "I really like at the end of these books that the person finds out why they’re sad or scared. I'd recommend it to kids my age and lower because older kids might be able to predict what was going to happen." We've really enjoyed the stories in this series. I love the approachable way they teach lessons and make such a clear connection between God's Word and feelings children often experience.
Another reader my daughter loves
Review by Barbara D
My daughter is enjoying this series. In Fay Ray the Ray becomes an older sister and starts to feel less important. She is then reminded she is special the way she is and she doesn't have to change. A great message to our kids that they don't have to change to be special, that God made them who they are. My daughter liked that because she is a big sister.
Fantastic for Little Readers
Review by Jen
This book is a sweet read with a great meaning behind it. It is engaging not only for little readers but for an adult reading it to them. I also love that the moral of this story points back to God and how he made each one of us different. This is definitely a book that will be read over and over again!
You were specially designed to bring God glory!
Review by Charity
At first glance, Fay Ray Finds Her Way seems to be the classic storyline about an older sibling adjusting to the birth of a new sibling. However, the lesson is relevant beyond the baby years and even challenged me concerning my attitude towards changing relationship dynamics in my life as an adult. We all need the reminder that God has a particular purpose that he designed us for. “God has plans for you, to bring His name glory in a way that only YOU can!”

This book would be an encouraging gift for the family of a new baby, or really any child in your life. It would also make a great addition to a Church or Sunday School Library.
what a fun story
Review by Andi
This book was a fun read, but more importantly it covered a lot of great topics and feelings that kids feel. A new sibling can cause feelings and this was a fantastic way to talk through those feelings as you watch Fay Ray work through them. Great colorful pictures, Wonderful reminder about being Gods masterpiece and happy with who you are.
Love it!
