The God’s Design Science series is based on a biblical worldview and reveals how science supports the biblical account of creation. Richard and Debbie Lawrence, authors of the series, have a long history of enjoying science. They have both worked as electrical engineers and now Debbie teaches Chemistry and Physics at a homeschool co-op. While homeschooling their children for 16 years, there was almost always a science experiment going on in the kitchen. Today that tradition is being continued with the next generation as the grandkids enjoy Grandma Science Day once a week. The Lawrences also enjoy playing street hockey, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, and visiting historical sites around the world.

I think this is a "work up to" kind of curriculum. What I mean is that it might not need to be recommended started out for 3rd graders. I know in the description it says 3rd-8th but I fill like that can be misleading especially since you can't really physically look at it until after you order it. With all of that being said, mt 10 year old started it and it did start very rough but he wanted to continue because he has a hard time quitting things he has started. So we really focused hard on it and took our time with it together and as we went we made flashcards for the definitions, made fun ways to study for the quizzes, found some extra cool videos explaining blood flow on youtube and things like that. Once things started to click for him and he found new ways to study it got easier for him. With all of that said, it is a great book, just adding extra tools to it may be needed to help your kid process all of the things he or she is learning. Just like with any other curriculum, you just have to find what works best for them and run with it, it isn't all going to be in one book, easy laid out for us, their is going to be work behind it and effort made by everyone.

I haven’t started using it yet. But I have looked through the book and teacher guide. I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far and really think that my kids will not only enjoy science this year but also remember what they have learned. I like the hands on activities. The other science program (Not Master Books) I was using didn't have much hands on and I had to create something on the fly. So this will be a nice change.

Best Elementary Science Curriculum

I am so happy that Master Books has partnered with Answers in Genesis to sell this curriculum. It is truly the best elementary science curriculum that I have used (and I have tried MANY). These books might seem small and simple, but they are brilliantly done. Your students will learn so much about biology that will stick with them and help them in High School Biology-- but in a fun, not overwhelming way. The projects are fun and doable, not burdensome (we adapted the baseball game in the Animal section for MANY subjects!). If you want a science curriculum that points your children's hearts to their Creator, shows them that their faith is not disconnected from academics, gives them a solid foundation for future learning, is fun and doesn't overwhelm Mom, this is the curriculum for you! Don't be temped by more expensive bells and whistles that will leave your kids overwhelmed and without enough time to go OUT and DISCOVER life science through outdoor play.

Several Subjects in One

This book had a few different subjects in it. Some of the subjects, my son thought were interesting; however, other's he thought weren't very interesting. We just skipped over the ones that he didn't find very interesting and worked on the ones that he enjoyed.

Perfect for all 5 kids (in all different levels)

We used God's Design for Life during our first year homeschooling and it ended up being perfect for my kids who are aged 9 to 15 (currently). The content was not too easy for my older kids nor too hard for my younger kids. I did purchase the Beginner curriculum for my youngest who was at the time a struggling reader. I taught the lessons together and they filled out the worksheets independently. The science experiments recommended are easy and fun (and usually require only items you already have around the house). Best of all, the kids were able to see God in science, something they did not get to see in public school. LOVE this series. Pro tip: each of the God's Design books includes 3 units (i.e. Plants, Human Body, Animals). The workload is perfect to do 2 units a year (1 per semester) and then your curriculum lasts a year and a half rather than just a year. This has worked perfectly for us.

Using God's Design Life in our homeschool has changed my kiddos' perspective towards school. My reluctant learning now asks if we can do science first, every day. I also love that I am able to use this curriculum family style for all three of my children at different grade levels. But the best part about this curriculum is that it's centered around God. I plan on using the whole God's Design series, and then cycling back through and incorporating the challenge sections for when the kids are older.
