  • Discern what beliefs are based on fact or fiction
  • Discover the truth in the midst of so much deception

Hell is for Real is a clear search for truth, and truth matters for the simple reason that we all have a divine appointment with death. What if those who do not believe in HELL die one day and find they made a tragic and eternal mistake? Where do we turn for real answers? Should we look to movies, television, and stories of personal experiences, psychics, or religion?

Cemeteries and mausoleums dot the landscape of America as evidence and reminders of the sad reality of death. The good news is there is a source of hope that provides answers for each and every one who cares to seek the truth. Join the search and choose wisely because, eternity is too long to be wrong and Hell is for Real.

Definitely a must-read
Review by MICHELLE
Hell Is For Real presents a sobering and thought-provoking exploration of the biblical doctrine of hell. The author approaches the topic with seriousness and reverence, grounding arguments primarily in Scripture while also addressing common cultural misunderstandings and objections surrounding hell.
One of the strengths of the book is its clear commitment to biblical authority. Rather than relying heavily on speculation or sensationalism, the author consistently points readers back to what the Bible teaches, encouraging careful reading and reflection. The tone is firm but pastoral, emphasizing God’s justice alongside His mercy and holiness.
The book is written in an accessible style, making a difficult and emotionally heavy subject understandable for lay readers. While the topic itself is challenging, the author avoids unnecessary graphic detail and instead focuses on theological clarity and spiritual urgency. Readers are encouraged to consider the eternal consequences of belief and unbelief, as well as the importance of sharing the gospel with compassion.
Overall, Hell Is For Real is a challenging but valuable read for Christian adults seeking a clearer biblical understanding of hell. It is best suited for mature readers and could serve as a discussion starter in personal study or small group settings.
Eternity In the Balance
Review by Charity
This thought provoking book is an important reminder of the reality of Hell and the decision each of us must make to reject or accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Suffering Savior. Frazier interweaves doctrinal teachings and powerful narratives that illustrate the biblical possibilities of how people experience eternity, an important reminder in a day when prominent influencers are denying Hell's eternality.

The most powerful message for me was the fact that so many people will be in hell, not just because of their sin, but because they knew the truth and rejected it. What a sober reminder to examine our own hearts and make sure that we have truly accepted Christ. It has also renewed my passion as I minister to the children in my church as well as my own family, and point them to Jesus and the eternal consequences for accepting or rejecting Him.
Helpful wake up call
Review by SB
This book is a helpful wake up call. Many people hate to think of their own mortality and what comes next when their life on earth is over. I don’t know that everything will happen exactly as the author has laid out in this book, but it is good to be reminded of the reality of hell. This book addresses a lot of the misconceptions that people have about what happens after we die. I appreciate that in the epilogue the author explains how to begin a relationship with Jesus and how to pray for those around us who are still lost.
Some good points but overall a disappointing book
Review by Michael
Given the recent (December 2025) discussion about Hell in the media due to a certain well known Christian celebrity and his changed view of hell (annihilationist view), I thought this book would lend valuable insights into that discussion. In some ways it does. The book clearly shows that hell is real based on scripture. The book also shows that hell is eternal based on scripture. The view of annihilationism is covered and refuted. For me, that is where the book did well. Overall though the book is disappointing because the book isn't really about hell as the primary focus like the title identifies. The book really is about Pre-Millennialism. I was wondering why in the Forward of the book, Ed Young said the author, Gary Frazier, "has a great love and passion for Israel and its people as well as an unquenchable interest in events past, present, and future surrounding its history. Because of this, I believe he has tremendous credibility as a teacher of future events." I thought as I read this statement, why does this matter if Hell is real or not? I soon found out in the Introduction of the book where it is clear the reader is about to walk through the Pre-Millennial timeline of events.

The book then interweaves a fictitious family (The Rhodes family of Normal, Ohio) into the Pre-Millennial story and shows where each member of the family falls into the Pre-Millennial events. I think this is ok from an artistic license perspective, however the main reason it seems this fictious family was interwoven into the book was to tell the Pre-Millennial story, not if Hell is Real and why it matters.

The author also made the claim in chapter two titled, “Fake Funerals and Perjured Preachers”…"In fact, I have never heard the word hell spoken at any funeral" and then followed up with, "If we talk about hell at all, we do so generally, theoretically, and theologically. But when it comes to identifying a given person who died and went there, we balk." My thought when reading these claims was, perhaps the author needs to attend more funerals. I have officiated funerals and have been to many in my shorter years than the author, and these things have been discussed. The author even claimed, "...all of us in ministry need to ask your forgiveness. I lied. We all lied...There is a reason we fake it at funerals and perjure ourselves as preachers. We want to comfort people...We want to bring consolation to grieving people. But in reality, we have lied." I appreciate the humility the author portrays and at the same time it is a bold statement to speak for every minister and claim “We all lied…”. I am an ordained minister that has officiated funerals and I understand the desire to comfort the family of the one having passed while at the same time faithfully and accurately representing the person being laid to rest. I have even preached the funeral of one that did not profess Christianity. By the grace of God, I was able to both comfort the family and speak truthfully about the recently departed and discuss heaven and hell. I am confident other ministers have been able to do this as well. I believe the author overstepped his authority and knowledgebase on these comments.

The author also advocated for the Pre-Tribulation viewpoint in chapter six. The author states, “In fact, the only position regarding the Rapture that fits with Scripture completely is the Pre-Tribulation position. This teaching fits if one applies the golden rule of interpretation: When the plain sense of Scripture makes sense, seek no further sense, lest you end up with nonsense.” I don’t even follow the Tribulation views and I thought this statement was a bit prideful and condescending. The author is obviously passionate about his view of end times, however speaking down toward other believers views in the way he was isn’t necessary, especially in a book that is supposed to be discussing if Hell is real or not.

Overall, this book is a disappointment and I would not recommend this book to someone trying to understand the topic of Hell. This book is less about Hell and more about advocating for the Pre-Millennial view and incorporating the topic of Hell into that.
