    This book does goes into great depth of the reasons why having Christ as not only the center of our education but in our lives. It is filled with history about our educational system in this country as well as scripture of the truth our children need to be taught. As a homeschool parent, I feel that I can get caught up in what the world deems is necessary for my child to learn when in fact teaching the truth and standing on the word of GOD is where my focus needs to be. This is a great resource that shows just why it is so important to start at home with teaching our children the truth and to fulfill our Higher Calling as parents.

    It offers a strong case for why Christian Education matters in today's world. It is deeply rooted in scripture and a powerful reminder of the transformative role it plays in education. His perspective challenged me to reconsider and reinforce the purpose of our Homeschool. It also encouraged me to use it for the glorification of the Lord and not get stuck in the monotony or mundaneness.

    Thought provoking book on biblical education

    Dr. Morris upholds the Holy Word of God as the ultimate authority on the topic of education and the source of truth: "...it is essential that one submit his mind to the revelation of God through Scripture if he would learn real truth...true Christian education must proceed from this premise." p. 80 "...all subjects and all courses must be founded on God's Word and developed within the constraining correcting framework of the Holy Scriptures." p. 139 He lays out the biblical mandate for who should teach children. He points to the Source of all truth. He explores what essential subjects a child should be taught and whether or not false systems or ideologies should be included in the educational process. He offers teachers specific goals to aim for both in the equipping of themselves first and subsequently their students. The last portion of the book includes suggestions of guidelines in implementing a biblical education program, whether that be a Christian school or even a homeschool co-op program. No matter which educational course you choose for your child - Christian school, homeschool (with its many options), public school, "Christian" or secular higher education - this thought provoking book is a must read to evaluate if there should be any adjustments in that choice.
    An informative read

    Seeing the title for a higher education I was expecting a bit of a how to type of book. That was not the type of book this was. It was a call to education that honors God.
    I love studying history, especially Biblical history. The first few chapters were full of history and the different types of worldview over the years and how that impacted education. The latter park of the book was more practical applications to keeping God the center of education and why. It was very informative, but a bit overwhelming in information on the first read. I need to read it again and take notes in the book. (I recommend the physical book for this title because of that!)
    It is an updating of the same book from almost 50 years ago, which was really interesting to see how our education has fallen since then. It was also good to read as a homeschooling parent, which is what the publisher notes every so often adds to. It isn't a quick read, but worth the read. The scriptures used are KJV.

    This book is wonderfully applicable to modern day families seeking the right path for educating their children. Dr. Morris pointed to the truth of scripture as the foundation of the home and family, providing a framework for educating our children. He stated that the goal of education should be to honor and glorify God. In addition, he concluded that knowing and believing the Word allows one to access the truth and understand more than would have been available to him or her otherwise. This book is a great encouragement for Christian parents, and it provides helpful guidance for those who desire to follow the mandates the God set forth for education.
