A delightful introduction to scientists

This book is a fantastic way to introduce your kids to people in history. It is so inspiring to learn about how the things in our world came to be. Each person in this book has a short & easy to read biography. Any words that might be a challenge to young readers are defined right on the page. The illustrations are fun & help kids stay engaged to the story. This book can be used for pure enjoyment or an add on to curriculum. A list of Master Books curriculum that would be good to use this book with is included.
Interesting and Informative
Review by
This book features ten different scientists and inventors. It shares about their lives and their character, while keeping a biblical perspective. It also includes a glossary in the back and little side notes with-in the stories to explain words that might be unfamiliar to students. The stories are around ten pages each and work well for independent reading or read alouds. A great way to add a little science and character to your homeschool.
Engaging, Informative and Inspiring

This is an excellent resource to learn about historical scientists and inventors. I appreciate how the author takes time to share details about each person's life that may not otherwise be known. I also like how throughout each chapter as new terminology is introduced, there is a side bar that defines the words so one can stay engaged with the reading and not wonder what something means. Having spent much time in the Outer Banks, NC, the account about the Wright Brothers was really neat to hear about, especially how their upbringing helped inspire them to what they achieved as adults. This type of information can certainly inspire young minds today to be creative! Overall the book is written in such a way that it keeps the reader engaged and wanting to learn more!
Excellent Resource
Review by
Inventors & Scientists is an excellent book to have on your bookshelf at home. My kids love all things history. And I love that I can offer them a book that is appropriate and at their age-level. A book that they can pick up and read on their own. The biographies are easy to read AND easy to understand.

Included in this book are 10 biographies about notable inventors and scientists in our history. You will read about their childhood into adulthood and how they were able to use their God-given abilities to make a change to better our world.

I appreciate the vocabulary words that are given throughout this book. It can be used as a stand-alone to dig into the lives of these scientists and inventors OR you can incorporate it into your other studies by using the amazing resource at the end of the book that lists corresponding curriculum. We are going through America’s Story right now and I love that we will be able to use this book to dig deeper into the lives of the notable men included in this book.
Perfect for a morning basket!

This is such a great addition to our morning basket! The biography of each inventor and scientist is relatively short, but filled with so many interesting details. This is a book that we really enjoy reading aloud and discussing, but my kids also enjoy reading on their own. The text is written in a conversational tone and is easy and enjoyable to read. The subtitles and pictures add to the enjoyment. We really enjoy having books like this around the house, and I’m glad to see MB offering more like this!
The ideal fun science reader
Review by
The new series of readers, geared for 4th-8th grade are a welcome addition to the MasterBooks line up. We are always on the lookout for readers that are engaging and desirable for that age to want to pick up on their own! The “What a Character” readers certainly fit that description! When I first showed my daughter the Inventors and Scientist book, she was busy and only wanted to look at a page. She very quickly was engaged and reading through it all! They are written in an easy way that is interesting and fun to read, while also adding learning retention and comprehension in an easy way. There are vocabulary words built in and just the right amount of humorous illustrations. Biographies add an element to science that many miss out on. Its easy to read about who invented the first successful light bulb and have the name Thomas Edison in your knowledge. But this book goes a step further and lets the reader get a glimpse into who he was. When kids read about his strange habit of sitting on goose eggs to hatch them and even how he got in trouble for his inventions as a child, they will connect with him in a memorable way. I can imagine my kids re-reading these books many times and they are a great series to be on every shelf!
