Q. Do I need to buy additional readers to use LLFLE?

A. Because independent reading is a core element of LLFLE, families are expected to add books that their children will enjoy and set a workable pace. When books are selected according to children’s interests and the pace is appropriate, reading is a pleasure and not a chore. To help you achieve this aim, LLFLE does not prescribe what or how much to read but leaves it open-ended.

There are suggested reading lists and a book log at the back of each level, but ultimately the choices of independent reading are up to the family. This design also saves you money since you can choose from your own home library or borrow from a public library to customize a reading program specifically for your children.
