Homeschool families love that Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 2 continues the fun and engaging story of Claire and Micah. Using the Master Books method of education, author Kristen Pratt incorporates poems and picture studies, as well as faith-growing verses to reinforce what students are learning. Educational activities and assignments also include memorization, grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, observation, psalms, and letters. Students learn to apply their new skills by creating their own stories from pictures and sentences.

Level 2 focuses on developing early reading and narration skills. Your student will start forming basic sentences utilizing phonics, observation, and reading comprehension. By the end of the course, students should be able to comfortably write up to three sentences at a time.

A helpful and detailed daily schedule:

  • DAY 1 - A special feature or a short story; weeks in between alternate between picture studies and reading poetry or a psalm.
  • DAY 2 & 3 - Learn about writing topics such as grammar and punctuation
  • DAY 4 - Create a story, poem, or psalm
  • DAY 5 - Focus on spelling and vocabulary

Each quarter has five stories, two picture studies (one of which is Bible-based) and two poems (one of which is a Psalm.) Using the spelling words and the dictionary worksheets, students will create their own dictionary as they move week by week through the material.

Scope and sequence, a daily course calendar, and additional learning resources including independent reading lists, spelling words, practice sheets and more are included to help your student master basic concepts. Reviews are also incorporated throughout the course to help them understand and apply what they learn.

NOTE: Additional readers are not required for this course. Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 2 is included in the 2nd grade homeschool curriculum package.

Perfect LA Curriculum
Review by MamaCheetah
As a former public school teacher I love being able to pick my own curriculum for my daughter. We tried something else for 1st grade and it was really good. But when we switched to this open and go curriculum for LA it was breath taking. No longer did I have to have 3 different books in front of us and all the manipulative etc. My daughter asked to do language arts and she loved the Micah and Claire story throughout the year.
Creative
Review by Love it
I really enjoyed how this book utilized several different approaches. Not only is there the typical practicing of spelling words and other mechanics, but I loved that it also included creating stories, and creating word searches. My child had blast trying to make word searches that would be difficult for me to solve. She didn't look forward to the story creating sections but they definitely benefitted her anyway. They helped her to not focus so much on the rules of the words and find some fun and creativity in them as well.

Fun and Gentle
Review by Samantha
This is a gentle, engaging language arts curriculum that makes learning feel natural and enjoyable. The lessons are easy to follow, with a good balance of grammar, reading, handwriting, spelling, and creativity woven together in a meaningful way. It encourages strong communication skills while keeping a wholesome, family-friendly approach. The short lessons are perfect for younger learners, and the colorful pages and thoughtful activities that help keep my kids interested without feeling overwhelmed.
We like it!
Review by Nicole
As a MB mom since this beginning of our homeschool journey, I've learned to trust the process. This is my third go round doing this book (homeschooling my 3rd daughter) and we enjoy it. The spelling days are the only ones I don't find super helpful because there's not enough instruction with it. But I appreciate the exposure to new words. On to LLFLE 3
Great program!

Language Arts made easy
Review by Steph
I liked this curriculum because not only was it informative for my child but also because the rules of language arts were easily explained and worked as a great refresher for myself.
We paired this book with the practice makes polished book that goes along with this. That book contained more fun ways to review such as made libs and letter blocking. Both of which my son enjoyed.
This is a fantastic part of our curriculum!!

Language Living 2
Review by Christine
My kids originally used Abeka for language arts in 1st grade. So going from that to this was very different. There was a lot less writing. However, my kids enjoy these lessons much more. They are shorter, less tears when it comes to writing, and the lessons do build and at times repeat a little to make sure that they are remembering what was already learned. They enjoy the stories that flow with each week. This has worked better for our family and so glad that we found it.
