Great for continuing sounds.

We have found this to be very good for continuing working on letter sounds and blends. It has been wonderful to see letters and sounds coming together into words and sentences.
Simple.

We thrived in this class. My kiddo did great and really grew a lot in his confidence in reading and we started building independence by using the dictionary for this and he loved it!

Great!!

This was our first year homeschooling our 1st grader. We felt confident that he had mastered the “foundations phonics” in kindergarten so we went with a full year of Language Lessons Level 1. It has worked great for both him and myself. He has enjoyed learning and using the material and I have enjoyed it from a teaching perspective. We will be using Master Books for language arts again next year.
We love this course!

Great Start to Language Arts

We are enjoying this curriculum. I like how it introduces spelling, dictionary (my daughter's favorite- she did one word a day to spread it out), sentences, and so much more. She loves to practice her spelling and loves the extra reading books this level comes with.
Moved too quickly through concepts

This course felt like a let down. I've used levels 2-5 with an older student and was disappointed that this felt way off as far as grade level. It felt like it was a huge jump from foundations phonics. My son couldn't even decode the spelling words to read them let alone spell them. The supplemental books were above his reading ability as well. If I were coming from another curriculum I would expect that but since Master Books recommends llle1 follow directly after foundations phonics I was disappointed that it didn't flow better from one to the other.
I do really like the way that nouns, verbs, and adverbs are introduced. That aspect felt a lot like the other levels of LLLE. I also liked the dictionary for simple writing practice introduced is a fun and artistic way.
Overall Id love to see this either adjusted to flow better from foundations phonics or for a more methodical reading curriculum to be developed for in-between the two.
LLFLE made learning language enjoyable again!

L.A. had become a frustration until we started LLFLE! I placed according to writing ability (which had been far behind my child's reading ability) and it was very easy to adapt for an advanced reader. It's so lovely to have the Bible woven throughout and to have confidence that my child's faith will grow from the teaching of language.
love the gentle approach

Love how this book has such a gentle approach to language and the short and colorful lessons have helped my oldest to not get overwhelmed. She struggles with things and this book has given her confidence.
