I expect a high degree of professionalism from education companies, and I expect the same with the addition of a high degree of integrity from companies professing faith in Christ. AI-generated art is trained with work, uncredited and uncompensated, from human artists. There is no reason that stock images and human-made art could not be used for this text.
Additionally, using ChatGPT as a source for the content denotes a lack of expertise and authority on the subject matter, which makes the book's reliability as good as that of Wikipedia, which is to say not at all. ChatGPT is also trained on work, uncredited and uncompensated, from human writers and scholars.
Why in the world would any respectable academic company use AI art and ChatGPT as a source? I now question all of the books this company publishes, though I own many of them. Going forward, I do not plan to patronize the publishing company if it continues to use AI sourcing in any of its materials. This is unfortunate, as all Answers in Genesis texts also come from this publisher.
Editor's note:
The author, Nancy I Sanders, is a bestselling and award-winning author of 100+ books, many of which are nonfiction. She never uses AI or Chat GPT to write any of the content in her books. You can read this encyclopedia with full confidence that the content is original and is not influenced by AI or ChatGPT. We hope that you will take a second look at this outstanding resource with confidence in the integrity and trusted content that it deserves. In fact, we prohibit authors from using AI to write content. We even check for that in manuscripts. We do use AI for illustrations through a legitimate and reputable stock art platform. Master Books puts credit for using AI in images, so we are upfront in all of our books.
One of the things we enjoyed most are the beautiful illustrations and images, which really help bring historical events and cultures to life for the kids. It makes it much easier for them to connect with what they are learning.
It also works very well as a research resource. When questions come up during lessons, it’s easy to look up topics and get clear explanations and helpful context.
Overall, it’s a great reference book for any homeschool library, especially if you want something that combines solid information with visuals that keep children interested.
creation, dinosaurs, the flood, ice age, oceans, continents, creation versus evolution,
ancient civilizations, and so much more. The pictures are colorfully detailed and include
captions that make it easy to understand exactly what you are seeing. You are going to
get some science and geography mixed in with history as well. The maps as well as
pictures of dinosaurs and ancient civilizations are clear and beautiful. If you are looking
to dig deeper into what your child is learning in ancient history, or you just want them to
have more information from a Biblical worldview then the World History Encyclopedia is
an exact fit. This is the type of book that will be on our shelf to refer to throughout the
years to come.
I grew up being taught history and the Bible separately, always viewing them as two timelines. During my younger schooling years, I could never fully grasp how they merged but knew they did somehow. This book is exactly the tool I need so that same thing doesn’t happen to my kids—I can teach world history and Biblical history as one cohesive story. This is why every Christian home needs this resource!
