Great math bundle

MLFLE 1 is such a sweet course. I love that now you can get both books together as a bundle. The course is great but the Practice Makes Perfect book makes it even better. Whenever we need to reinforce a concept, I can find extra review in the practice book. Plus, Practice Makes Perfect has additional activities that the course book doesn't have.

Great intro to math, love the bundles

Level 1 is such a nice easy introduction to math. Age appropriate elements and it moves very smoothly into addition and subtraction. Lessons give practice and build confidence. This bundle is excellent, the practice makes perfect gives a couple days of review each week and it adds just enough to boost confidence more. Bundled together makes it so much nicer to order. Everything you need is paired together for a successful math loving year.

Adaptable, Flexible, Solid!

I have tried many different math curricula for first grade and I could never find one that I loved. We switched to Master Books with my oldest for Level Two and it was a game changer for her.
My first experience with math lessons one with my 2nd oldest was a mixed bag, but that child ended up having developmental vision issues that were affecting all of her school work so anything with a worksheet was very difficult for her. Even though we couldn't use Math Lessons 1 as written for her, it was by far the easiest curriculum to adapt to her needs of all the ones that I had tried before. The Practice Makes Perfect book was great for finding alternate worksheets for her since there wasn't as much information on the page to overwhelm her. I think being able to get the PDF of the practice book and print black and white was also helpful for her.
Now my 3rd daughter who is 6 years old is doing Math Level 1 and it has been a perfect fit for her developmentally! She is moving through the regular lesson book very quickly so I am thankful to have Practice Makes Perfect so that we can review the concepts again and make sure she has a solid grasp of the concepts before moving on to Level Two.

Math for every learning style

Our family has been using Math Lessons for A Living Education since our oldest was in first grade. It has been perfect for our family as it works for all different learning styles - from our artistic and nature-loving ones to more logical thinkers. The story line keeps their interest and brings math applications to life, while reinforcing godly character and worship of the Creator.
This series is designed to be developmentally appropriate, so you will see lighter work loads that build with each level (and graduates of this series are well-prepared for Principles of Mathematics). If we need extra practice with a concept, we pull in some pages from Practice Makes Perfect and the various activities help to reinforce what we are learning. (PMP has also been helpful to keep math skills sharp through the summer!)
The only thing I wish were different is math facts memory work. I feel like the facts are introduced in kind of random order, and while there are a lot of prompts to review, it is easy to skip over them since it is not actually written into the curriculum. Obviously that responsibility falls on the teacher, but it would be helpful to have it more thoroughly incorporated. Overall though, I love this series and wish it had been around when I was a child!

Our family has been using Math Lessons for a Living Education for the last 6 years and we love it! We always use the main text book during the school year and then use the practice book during the summer for review before we start the next level. We’re excited to see that these are offered as a bundle now! My boys enjoy that the lessons are short enough that they don’t get burnt out but theres enough review built into the book that they are able to get a concept down. The practice book helps to make sure there are no gaps in what they’ve learned during the year. We love that it is practical and can be applied to everyday life.

The student book is the main part and Practice makes perfect makes it even sweeter.
I can use the tests in PMP for record keeping, or many parts of PMP, while the bulk of the learning and work is in the student book. Both the student book and the PMP book line up with their lessons, making it easy on mom to add in the reinforcements where needed.
PMP adds in the color by number pages that my daughter loves. A sweet base to starting math that encourages the student to keep going. My daughter was sad to leave her piggy math, but has been doing very well using this series.

A Great Curriculum with Extra Practice!

I have had 3 kiddos go through this curriculum so I was very excited when they came out with a booklet of practice sheets. Most of my kiddos tend to go very quickly though this workbook so it is always nice to have extra sheets to add to a days work, to maintain comprehension, or just make it fun. I love that the practice sheets aren’t just busy work problems but may include little activities to help the concepts stick. Hooray for bundles!
