Loveable Role Models that Make Math a Joy!
Review by Charity
Before MB I had tried 5 different math curricula, 4 of which by the end of 1st grade. I had joined the Master Books app and had just started using some other MB courses, but I was scared to take the plunge with MLFALE because it didn't seem to be enough.

I decided to try Math K with my younger daughter and we all instantly fell in love with Charlie and Charlotte. I also saw the impact that the positive role modeling in the stories was having. I realized that the story based supplement we were using was doing the opposite. The other math program that I bought was not very doable with a high needs preemie at home to take care of either.

I decided to start MLFALE 2 from the beginning even though my daughter had made it halfway through more advanced second grade book. This helped reveal some gaps and gave her a good foundation and lots of confidence. The skills were sufficiently challenging and I soon became confident that Master books is enough.

The storyline with baby Ella was very sweet since we also had a baby at home. Math became more than a busy work and a chore, it was actually a living subject. It has been perfect fit developmentally and tears are now a rarity instead of an everyday occasion. Thank you Master Books for a program that promotes Biblical Values and makes math a joy
Love it!

I love this math curriculum! It's such a plus that this is specifically made for homeschoolers - it cuts out a lot of busy work making it seem like less work to the child, but they're still getting everything they need to know.
For my 1st grader
Review by Jessie
My 7 year old has used this book for first grade and only has a sewing project and one review lesson on money left to finish. He loves the twin stories and the new addition of Ella. I was surprised how little place value village came up compared to level 1, but I'm not complaining about that. He liked Mr M for measuring volumes. I love that the beginning and end of the book has so much review to start and finish the year on an easier note. Covers a lot of addition, subtraction double digit numbers, money, measurements, time. I recommend.
Excellent

My son finds this to be enjoyable and that's a win for us!!
Love it!
Review by Lisa
This was great for my son! He's gifted and hates the idea of doing 100 practice problems, he gets bored easily. This was just enough to get the concept across and move on to the next thing before he got bored and the stories of Charlotte and Charlie kept him engaged. He wants to do math first every day! He will be finishing and moving on to level 3 in the next couple weeks and "puppy math" will be truly missed!
A real God-sent for our family
Review by Charlotte
After first trying another math curiculum for my daughter which did not work for her we were thrilled when we discovered this! The stories kept her engaged and motivated her to complete her tasks so that she could find out what happens to the twins in the next section. She improved a lot with this course and it has been such a blessing to us!
My son loved it!

I love the stories that lead into the lessons✔️ I love how everything you need is in one book. I don’t know what I would do without Master Books!
Sweet friends
Review by Carla
It's sweet how the kids get to really like the twins and wanna know what they're up to. This would be good for kids who love stories and need that as an encouragement to do math. The short lessons are helpful too so they don't hate it!
Great curriculum!
Review by Faith
I used this a few years back, with my second grader and her and I both loved it! She was excited to do the lessons and they were thorough, without becoming too difficult. It was a good balance. I also personally enjoyed that everything was included within the 1 textbook and a second teacher’s guide wasn’t needed.
