As a homeschooling parent committed to providing a Christ-centered education, I found Miraculous to be both inspiring and deeply encouraging. This book offers far more than a biography—it’s a testimony to God’s faithfulness through the life of Ken Ham and the incredible ministry of Answers in Genesis. The story traces Mr. Ham’s journey from humble beginnings in Australia to becoming a global voice for biblical authority and creation apologetics. For my children and me, reading about the many obstacles he faced—and how God opened doors in the face of opposition—was a powerful reminder that standing firm in your convictions matters, especially in a world that often pushes back against biblical truth. I appreciate how this book reinforces the importance of a strong foundation in Scripture. It gave me renewed confidence in why we choose to teach science and history through a biblical worldview. I also loved that it provided insight into the development of the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter—places we’ve visited and now see with even deeper appreciation. Ken Ham’s story reminded me that one faithful life, guided by God, can impact generations. I highly recommend Miraculous to other homeschool families who want to encourage their kids (and themselves!) to be bold for Christ and trust God’s leading, even when the path is challenging.
This audio version is especially interesting to listen to because Ken Ham reads it (so you get to enjoy the Aussie accent!), plus his wife and others of the team also read their contributions to the storyline. Also, Mr. Ham gives a personal little summary at the end of each chapter, which was not, as far as I could find, included in the book. Because there is a wealth of pictures with captions in the actual book, I recommend getting it along with the audio so you can look at the photos after you listen to the chapters. I usually prefer physical books over ebooks, but being able to zoom in on the many photos is a much-appreciated feature of the ebook version. The photos throughout really draw us in, plus emphasize the fact that these are real, everyday people and events.
I love how this book starts by showing the faithfulness of Ken Ham’s parents and grandparents, and how he was able to build upon that rich legacy as he began his ministry which grew into the Answers in Genesis ministry with worldwide impact, with which we are familiar today! It has made me take a hard look at the priorities my children are seeing in my life. I often remind them that “only what’s done for Christ will last,” like Ken Ham’s mom reminded her children; but do I live like I believe that?
Mr. Ham continually emphasizes that faith, responsibility, and God’s sovereignty go hand in hand. I was encouraged and my faith was strengthened as I heard of the many “Red Sea Moments” and evidences of God at work as Ken Ham and the team stepped out in faith and watched God do the impossible over and over again. I had goosebumps hearing about Ruth - but you’ll have to listen to this audiobook to hear the story for yourself!
This book will leave you convicted, inspired, and rejoicing in the wonderful works of God!
The story of Ken and the Answers in Genesis ministry reminds me of Brother Andrew or George Muller with not only the faith of Ken and his ministry partners, but also with the way God provided the funds, people, and resources to accomplish what He had called Ken and Mally to do. This book is faith-building and very encouraging as it gives great perspective of God at work in our lives to accomplish His plans and purposes.
I highly recommend this audiobook!
I really liked hearing the voices of Ken Ham and the others who contributed to the ministry and this book. There are also some extra tidbits throughout the audiobook that are not in the print version of the book. I especially liked hearing the bonus clip from Buddy Davis talking about the day he and Ken Ham met. Having that recording is a treasure since he went to be with Jesus by the time this book was finished.
I felt like I had a front row seat, watching how God was working to direct Ken and his family, and to orchestrate all of formative details of the ministry of Answers in Genesis, and Ken's influence on Master Books. Both of these ministries have had a life-changing impact on my own family so this book was a huge encouragement and an inspiration to me!
I was amazed to hear about how God brought so many highly qualified individuals at just the right time to create the life changing ministry and World Class attractions that were once only a dream. This book also clears up some of the many odd rumors about AIG as well.
Whether you are new to AIG, and curious about their ministry, or if you are a long-time fan, this audiobook will be an encouragement to you to keep pressing on and look for the Tapestry of Grace God is weaving in your own life!
