Exactly what I was looking for!
Review by Rachel
Fantastic social studies course. This book is labelled for K but I'm using it with my first grader as we didn't have a proper social studies curriculum before this. It is definitely adaptable and I'm so happy I started with the K level, we will build on using 1 and 2 as we continue. Brilliant!
Great Kindergarten Social Studies Course
Review by Kathleen
This is a very well done Kindergarten social studies course. It teaches your child to understand God's love for them and for all of His people. The pictures are so vibrant and engaging. I loved the faith lessons and the scripture cards. I also loved the language lesson in each lesson. My child learned to say words from countries all over the world while also learning where that country was and what the people there looked like. One bonus thing in this book which I loved is the little tidbits of information that I could write in for my child within each lesson: his favorite book, his favorite vacation place, his favorite sport etc. We really loved this book.
My Story K
Review by Love2BeMom
This is one of my favourite Masterbooks courses! It is scheduled for 2 days a week, but you can do both lessons in one day if you have an eager learner. It caters for different learning styles. Children learn about God, His love for the world and families. Children get introduced to basic maps and economy. Faith and character building are like golden threads throughout the course and the lessons trigger great discussions. I love the gentle approach and highly recommend this for young children for an introduction to social studies.
A Nice Introduction to Core Social Studies Topics for Earlier Grade Levels
Review by Kelly Ann
We have used both My Story 1 and 2 in our homeschool, and this is a nice compliment to the complete collection, and the perfect starting point for younger grade levels. I actually found that I preferred this one out of all three books. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that it focuses on core topics in social studies that would be pertinent for children in earlier grades. Lessons focus on safety, family, community/citizenship, and even geography, which all offer a nice introduction to social studies as whole. As with all of the My Story books, there are plenty of fun learning activities and beautiful color illustrations/photography shown throughout. Even though this is labeled for Kindergarten, I personally find that there are lessons and activities that can be used with a grade level or two above, depending.
