Xapia (Greek), chara, pronounced khar-ahí, meaning: cheerfulness, calm delight; gladness multiplied greatly; to be exceedingly full of joy!

Joyful people can be found anyplace and in some of the strangest of places. Being joyful is not dependent upon circumstances. Now it must be pointed out at the very beginning that there is a natural joy possessed by lots of people, a natural joy in the beauty of music or nature. There is a human joy in delightful relationships. There is joy in the satisfaction of a job well done. There is a healthy enjoyment of life. But we must also note that this kind of natural joy, at best is fleeting, it's not permanent. The joy of God is rooted deeply in His everlasting Spirit.

But the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control... - Galations 5:22–23

In these Bible studies from best-selling author Robert Strand, you will learn about yourself and how to relate to others as you gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be in Christ.

There is Joy in Jesus Christ!

I’m so excited to dig into this book with my 3 girls! Reading through this book, I know my kids are going to learn the difference between joy and happiness. The questions asked in this book are very thought provoking! My kids will see and learn about the joy that comes from doing the will of God no matter where they are in this life. I can’t wait to dig into this book with them! Thank you Master Books!

Finding true joy in Christ

This book has wonderful bible verses and questions to help us understand true, biblical joy. It’s the opposite of what we learn in the world and teaches us how to find joy in Christ, no matter what our circumstances are.
Great book!

Love this book! I think this is a great reminder that worldly joy and happiness are different from what the Bible teaches. This devotional is very encouraging.

I love that it brings in scripture, quotes and definition...i.e." Joy in Greek is chara, pronounced khar-ahi, meaning: cheerfulness, calm delight; gladness multiplied greatly; to be exceedingly full of joy!"
A Balanced view of Christian Joy
Review by
The format across all nine of these books remains consistent, which is helpful, I think, if using these as a first "adult" devotional study for jr. high and older students. It was encouraging in this book to see the author's continued focus on life application. One way he does this is to have the reader consider circumstances which challenge joy. He does a very thorough job, I think, bringing out what the barriers are to joyful living. He also gives a balance view of what joy actually looks like, calling it a calm delight. What was most encouraging to find was the instruction that joy is tied to obedience....a truth often glossed over.
