Robert Strand, one of the most successful authors in the CBA market, believes that an understanding of the qualities of a Christian deserve a close look. To that end, Strand has developed a nine-book study series on the fruits of the spirit, emphasizing not only that a properly-balanced Christian life must include love, joy, peace, patience, etc., but that God will judge us on our willingness to incorporate them into our daily walk. Written in Strand’s famous storytelling style, each book in the series includes study questions and special insights.
Enkrateia (Greek), meaning: en, infused or within; kratos, vigor, dominion, power, strength. Having a great force within but under control.
Society today is telling us to let it all hang out, do your own thing, look out for #1, and to be free of all restraints. If we are to restrain or control ourselves in the eyes of this world it's only so that we do
not abuse someone else. But the Bible goes much further. We are to manifest self-control in order to become like Jesus Christ! Self-control in reality is a very high form of worship because it is a living out of
His commandments - it's a "doing" act of character in order that all of the fruit of the Spirit will be seen in us.
But the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.... - Galations 5:22–23
In these Bible studies from best-selling author Robert Strand, you will learn about yourself and how to relate to others as you gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be in Christ.

This is going to be a great devo!
Review byJessica
Although my girls and I are currently reading another book from Master Books (One Blood for Kids), I’ve skimmed through this book that we got in the family morning basket. I’m very excited to read this book with my kids as they will learn that their way isn’t best, that they should seek the will of our Heavenly Father. We all need to look more and more like Jesus every single day. There is also mention of fighting inside this book which I think will be great for 2 of my girls, who always seem to be butting heads with each other. This will be a great devo for not just my 3 girls, but for myself as well. Thank you Master Books!

Review byNancy
We all need this book to remind us how to learn self control. This book is a great tool to keep our heart aligned with what God says and defines clearly what self control is and the false truths of self control.

Thought provoking
Review byNatalie
This book explores the difficult task of self-control and challenges the reader to do some in depth study on how a lack of self-control can hinder our walk with Christ. Practical application that makes the reader think!

Addresses more than just a bad temper!
Review byKarie
I appreciate how this book challenges me to consider this fruit of the Spirit in all areas of life - my speech, attitudes, even my possessions. The questions all seem to lead toward personal life application and the use of both positive and negative examples really help illustrate what self-control is and is not.
