"Twenty-somethings once faithfully attended church. What made them stop? While most said they still believe that the Bible is God's Word, they also said that the idea that the earth is millions of years old was one thing that caused them to doubt the bible? The crumbling foundation of the church takes a devastating toll on future generations. Therefore, churches must reclaim the historical truth found in Genesis and apply the Bible's authority to every area of life."
-Ken Ham, President
Answers in Genesis

As the modern Church struggles to find a place of relevancy for a new generation that already has massive demands on its time and attention, more and more young people raised in the Church are leaving it - failing to find the answers to their questions of faith and life, beset with doubts raised by issues that the Church chooses not to address. Opting to skirt the controversy of Genesis as literal history, the biblical authority of the Holy Word is called into question and reduced to a collection of mere stories. More popularly considered an issue for schools or in the public realm, the conflicting views on the age of the earth also remain a pivotal issue within the Church - as it has for over two centuries.

  • Was the Creation week literally six days?
  • Does science really point to an old earth?
  • Does the issue really matter for Christians?
  • Should this issue even be discussed within the Church?

Extremely helpful!
Review by Kristiana
This is a wonderful book. I love Dr Lisle and am slowly buying all of his books, but I feel like thus far this is one of my top favorites because it is so helpful. I am actually currently in a friendly debate with someone on this topic and keep referring back to Old Earth Creationism on Trial for help in answering their claims. I have actually even recommended the book to them!
A thorough critique of old-earth creationism that is easily readable
Review by Kathleen
This book calls the Church back to the authority of Scripture rather than trusting our own methods and ideas.
Many fallacies pointing to an old earth are explained and proven to be false.
Good science does support the biblical time scale.
After reading this book your confidence in defending the biblical view of a young earth will be strengthened.
This book is a great resource to have
Excellent Book!
Review by Becky V.
This is an excellent book on the debate of young-earth creationism versus old-earth creationism. One of the main goals of the authors in presentation was to lay out the arguments of each side while maintaining the readability for the every day reader. They accomplish just that. I would be confident handing this book to either an upper elementary student or an adult and both being able to walk away with a greater understanding of the subject matter.

The book is brilliantly set up as a court case with the young-earth position as the prosecution and the old-earth position as the defense. Responses are the witnesses which are cross-examined against the Scripture. The three main arguments that are focused on include the age of the earth, the extent of the flood, and scientific evidence. I greatly appreciate how everything mentioned was always pointed back to what Scripture says. The Appendixes are a great resource for anyone looking to dig deeper into arguments covered within the pages of this book.

I really enjoyed this book and walked away with a greater understanding of this popular debate. It challenged me to dig deeper into this topic and to understand how important it is to be more educated on issues such as this one. And more important, to always return to God’s Word and to know and understand what it says.
great book

Fantastic Work!!
Review by Krista
At just over 230 pages, this book covers some of the major debate topics between young earth creationists, and old earth creationists, in a way that is peaceful and truth seeking in a calm and gentle demeanour.
I found this book to be a thought provoking and compelling read.
It is written in simple terms, instead of over the top technical terms; which I highly appreciate as a reader, making it easy to follow along with a strong understanding of the authors explanations.
Every fact, argument, or viewpoint is continually focused back to scripture, and looked through with a biblical lens.
I love the information and debates provided in this book! It was a pleasure to read, especially with the key focus being centred around truth and the gospel of Jesus!
I was inspired with some wonderful knowledge and facts that I had not considered before, and would recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to strengthen their faith and defend it.
