Fun Activities
Review byKathleen C
As a homeschooling parent, I really appreciate how MasterBooks has designed Practice Makes Polished 2. This book provides just the right amount of extra practice without overwhelming my child. The lessons are short, clear, and focused, which helps build confidence while reinforcing what they’re learning in their main Language Lessons for a Living Education Level 2 book.
One of the things I love most is that the review feels gentle but thorough. It keeps skills fresh and gives my child the chance to master concepts at a steady pace. The layout is clean and inviting, and the bite-sized practice makes it easy to fit into our daily routine without causing frustration. I love how there are key concept sections. I can easily see what my child will be practicing. I am also very happy optional schedules were included to help me see how to use it alongside the Language Lessons 2 book.
Practice Makes Polished 2 has been a valuable tool in our homeschool. I highly recommend it to other homeschooling families who want a solid supplement that encourages both learning and confidence.

Great extra practice book
Review byAndi
This book that coincides with level 2 is a fun practice. Divided into 3 sections of spelling, grammar, reading and writing. The word shapes practice was fun, the section where they fill in nouns, verbs and adjectives made for fun story reading. My kids actually loved that part the most. There is daily writing journal prompts. This could be used in it's entirety along with level 2 or you could pick and choose skills to hone in one and work extra on. Overall a great flow and fun activities to help support language learning. I'm excited for the rest of the levels to come out.

A great resource.
Review byAbbieDay
I have already used the Practice Makes Perfect books for math so I was super excited to see the same additional resources for Language Arts!! This flexible resource enables you to give additional work if your student needs practice. It can be used page by page or you can pick and choose subjects or areas that your student is struggling in. The pages are bright, colorful and keep a child's attention. The instruction is concise and clear and follows what has been previously covered in Language Lessons for Living 2. In combination with the LLFL 2 book this book helps to lay and solidify a good language arts foundation for the student to continue to build upon.

Great practice book
Review byMC
Practice Makes Polished 2 is a great resource to have on hand to review the concepts learned in Language Lessons for a Living Education level 2. The book contains differently colored sections that allow practice in three main areas of language arts. Yellow is spelling, purple is grammar and reading, and orange is writing. Since I printed and spiral bound the pdf version, my daughter is not a fan of the sectioned structure because she feels like she is jumping around in the book. She would rather go in page order from front to back. As my daughter’s homeschool teacher however, I like and appreciate the three sections because I can easily choose an area to focus on without having to search throughout the book. It feels very well-organized from my perspective, and I hope to see a similar structure in future levels. I could have easily bound my copy into 3 separate books or used loose leaf pages to alleviate her frustration. The pdf version is beneficial for this reason.
Practice Makes Polished 2 offers four main spelling activities that repeat throughout the section. I understand that repetition can be beneficial for younger students, but when my daughter dislikes two of the spelling activities, I would have loved to see more variety in this area.
The grammar and reading section provides the extra practice needed without being overwhelming. We have had fun utilizing the Word Play stories while reviewing grammar concepts.
We haven’t used the writing section a whole lot yet as my daughter still needs to grow her writing stamina, but she has enjoyed the Journal days and as a homeschool mom, I’m very excited to see the journal prompts!
Overall, Practice Makes Polished 2 is a great resource for practicing language arts concepts. Its simple format is full of color and age-appropriate illustrations without being cluttered or overwhelming. I recommend this book and look forward to future levels.

Practice made fun
Review byDustie
What a great companion for the Language Lessons 2 course! I especially appreciate the extra spelling practice, though I think the grammar and writing practice will also get good use in our home. The activities are fun and purposeful. It is a great book for kids who simply love Language Lessons or kids who need a little extra practice in a specific area.

Wonderful Tool for Student Success!
Review byCharity
Practice Makes Polished 2 is just what my struggling student has needed! There are 3 categories of activities: Spelling, Grammar and Reading, and Writing. Each of the 3 sections has 2 worksheets per lesson with a total of 6 activities corresponding with each week's lesson.
Overall, I like that the activity types are separated because you can choose to just focus on one area if needed and ignore that parts that your student does not need at the time. Most of the activities reference and utilize each week's spelling words,
The variety of activities for spelling practice is certainly what shines brightest in Practice Makes Polished 2, but we have especially loved the the grammar and reading practice section. For us the mad lib style grammar worksheets have been great opportunities for writing practice and developing thinking skills needed for good writing without an overwhelming amount of written work. This activity along with with the spelling and reading practice, has been a great bridge for my struggling student who is not quite ready for the full Language Lessons Level 2 course yet due to writing ability.
One note, the grammar and reading section does not have a word list on the page so you may find it helpful to print off the spelling word lists from the supplemental resource page for easy reference. They are not necessary to complete the activities though. All other activities do include the spelling words for reference on the page as they are needed.
The writing section seems a bit more advanced than the earlier sections. There is a weekly journal prompt on one side and a section to practice using spelling words in a sentence. This section would be great to add in as you prepare to transition to level 3 which requires quite a bit more writing ability.
The PDF is nice for a supplement like this in case you would like to use an exercise during the year for practice and again at the end of the year for review. My current student has said that she doesn't mind that we are using black and white, but if you can afford color, the extra little cute graphics add some fun to the page as well.
Overall Practice Makes Polished is a phenomenal resource to help you as the teacher to better tailor the curriculum to fit your student's needs. I'm so thankful for the Master Books approach and their desire to equip us to help our students succeed.

Love it!
Review byYulia
Practice Makes Polished: Level 2 is a great addition to Language Lessons for a Living Education series. I love that it provides extra opportunities for spelling, grammar, writing and reading practice. They are presented in a fun and colorful way. Some of the exercises (Word Searches, Word Play and Journal It! ) are so fun, the child may not even notice they are completing language arts exercises. My daughter especially enjoyed the Word Play and the Word Search assignments. I love the different ideas for the spelling practice. I was not aware of the Stack Up Spelling. I am grateful for this idea because it is such a great way to learn and visually see spelling. I am excited about this new series and can't wait for the other levels to be released.

Light and lighthearted structured practice
Review byJoyfulMommy
These are great worksheets and activities to extend and review the lessons in Language Lessons! I appreciate the extra spelling pages and incorporate them throughout the week, so we practice the spelling words more than if we only introduced them on the last day of the lesson. Our whole family is enjoying the Word Play stories in the grammar and writing practice as our second grader either fills in the blank without seeing context, or asks a sibling for words (nouns - thing, pronoun - name, etc.), and then reads the story aloud. The journal pages and other writing pages provide nice prompts and ruled space for practicing writing with neat handwriting, which my student is enjoying. If your child is doing fine with Language Lessons as is, and reading and writing additionally on their own, you don’t need this; but if you want some more light - and lighthearted - structured practice, this is a great resource.

A MUST for young learners!
Review byCRill
This book is spelling, reading and writing made fun! Each lesson brings excitement to the student making important concepts engaging and enjoyable. The book is broken into three parts. The spelling portion consists of different exercises such as word shapes, writing in colors and puzzles. The reading portion includes silly stories using the lessons spelling words and a mad-lib style story allowing the student to choose different nouns, verbs, etc. The writing portion drives home sentence structure and critical thinking skill to write their own sentences using the lessons spelling words and a journal entry encouraging familiarity with dates and gratitude. I cannot say enough good things about this book! The authors did a wonderful job!
