Excited for this amazing resource!
Review by Rachel
This has got to be one of the best additions Masterbooks has done! LLFALE is already such an amazing language arts program. I recommend it all the time and I am so thankful I have found it to use with my own kids. However, this Practice Makes Polished is the cherry on top! What a GREAT addition. My kids tried it out and truly didn’t mind doing the work because it was such a fun way to practice needed skills. Even my struggling student had so much fun with it. I cannot wait to see what the next levels hold and I’m hopeful we won’t have to wait too long for them! I just love the work that Kristen Pratt has put into this whole series! This comes from a thankful momma’s heart! Highly recommend the additional fun practice that is found in PMP!
Great Spelling Option
Review by JW
I think this could be used as an extra option easily with Language Lessons 2 and also could be used as just a stand-alone spelling book. The words gradually get more challenging. Get this book for extra spelling practice!
Practice made fun
Review by Dustie
What a great companion for the Language Lessons 2 course! I especially appreciate the extra spelling practice, though I think the grammar and writing practice will also get good use in our home. The activities are fun and purposeful. It is a great book for kids who simply love Language Lessons or kids who need a little extra practice in a specific area.
Excellent addition!

I absolutely love this resource as a supplement to LLLE! It really helps boost the course for kids who need or want a little extra practice opportunity. It isn't overwhelming at all while still providing the leg-up that some students might need. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of these for other levels! I view this as good value for money regardless of the capabilities of your student. I have found in my homeschool that extra practice of skills mastered even on children who don't require extra practice boost confidence and eliminate the fear of independent work. It is a tool I will absolutely be implementing as long as I teach children!
Wonderful resource

Such a wonderful resource! My son loves the fun extra practice to help him get stronger in his language arts skills. We love how it can be “summer practice” or added to the Language Lessons for a Living Education to reinforce what he is learning
Love it!

Practice Makes Polished: Level 2 is a great addition to Language Lessons for a Living Education series. I love that it provides extra opportunities for spelling, grammar, writing and reading practice. They are presented in a fun and colorful way. Some of the exercises (Word Searches, Word Play and Journal It! ) are so fun, the child may not even notice they are completing language arts exercises. My daughter especially enjoyed the Word Play and the Word Search assignments. I love the different ideas for the spelling practice. I was not aware of the Stack Up Spelling. I am grateful for this idea because it is such a great way to learn and visually see spelling. I am excited about this new series and can't wait for the other levels to be released.
Light and lighthearted structured practice
Review by JoyfulMommy
These are great worksheets and activities to extend and review the lessons in Language Lessons! I appreciate the extra spelling pages and incorporate them throughout the week, so we practice the spelling words more than if we only introduced them on the last day of the lesson. Our whole family is enjoying the Word Play stories in the grammar and writing practice as our second grader either fills in the blank without seeing context, or asks a sibling for words (nouns - thing, pronoun - name, etc.), and then reads the story aloud. The journal pages and other writing pages provide nice prompts and ruled space for practicing writing with neat handwriting, which my student is enjoying. If your child is doing fine with Language Lessons as is, and reading and writing additionally on their own, you don’t need this; but if you want some more light - and lighthearted - structured practice, this is a great resource.
A great addition

What a great addition to your Language Lessons for a Living Education book. For students who need a little extra reinforcement, this is the perfect solution.
This book includes a lot of spelling practice and supplementary worksheets with fun activities such as word searches, word boxes, copywork and more.
The layout is clear and easy to follow.
When will the next one be released?
Review by Building on the Rock
This is an exciting new resource to strengthen language and grammar skills in addition to the Language Lessons for a Living Education series. "Practice Makes Polished" provides an open and go flexible way to support a student in any areas they may be struggling with using attractive pictures and engaging activities. The parent can follow the included supplemental schedule to use throughout the year in coordination with LLFALE 2, OR use during the summer months to keep skills fresh, OR pull out anytime additional practice is needed.

Spelling practice includes the use of colors to recognize consonants and vowels as well as building words one letter at a time. Additional writing practice is encouraged through journal entries and sentence writing using a variety of grammar skills. Grammar and reading skills are practiced while creating a silly story. The student chooses a word with an assigned part of speech to fill in the blank into a short story with a result of a silly story to enjoy reading through.

It will be difficult to wait for each level to be released, but in the meantime, the principles Kristen Pratt uses could be modified for older students or the level 2 could be used as a less intense review for students who have completed higher levels of LLFALE.
"Best mom ever" is what my daughter told me
Review by Barbara D
My daughter is in level 2 of Language Lessons. She is a great reader, but needs more writing practice. Having done Language Lessons 2 previously with my son I was curious about Practice Makes Polished. I am glad I got it. Though my daughter doesn't need the reinforcement, I could have used it with my son. My daughter likes all the different options for the weekly spelling words. Her favorite is the stories. There is a silly story every week with the spelling words, as well as a fill in the blank story with the part of speech they are working on. My daughter loves writing the answers I give her. Had this been around when my son was younger, he would have enjoyed the reinforcement as well. (It would have been less work on me to find a similar reinforcement.)
I like the weekly Journal Entry where the student writes the day and date and then answers a personal question, such as what is your favorite holiday and why.
My challenge was how was I going to give my daughter the pages with the regular lesson. I found I was overthinking and I let her choose. The PDF helps with choosing what to give and when because I can print what I need and when I need it.
After we went on break for July we did use some of Practice Makes Polished as a review before continuing into the school year. (We had started Language Lessons 2 before Easter.) It was a good light review before continued. I can see how for a family with a traditional school they can choose the activities from this book to prevent the stereotypical summer slide.
I am very pleased with this book and look forward to further levels. I recommend it to go with Language Lessons Level 2, or between levels.
