Customer Reviews
"Wit is an happy and striking way of expressing a Thought." - from Wit
Generally, this is not the type of book that you would sit down and read from beginning to end. Yet, I found myself wanting to continue to read these thoughts. Often I would read something out loud to either my husband or daughter. Because the writing style used within this book is not the norm for today, I enjoyed watching me daughter try to figure out what exactly was being said with some of the writings. The book is filled with different gems from days gone by.
This hard cover book looks like a classic book with the worn look and torn-edge pages. The introduction, written by Edmund Gosse, gives deeper insight into the life of William Penn, so you won't want to skip over it. The book contains two "books" in one: Fruits of Solitude (part 1) and More Fruits of Solitude (part 2). Each part is broken down into different topics. If you're looking for a little inspiration, you can just look up a specific topic.
If you're looking for some wisdom from days of old, you'll want to pick up this little book.
