Very Detailed
Review by Lexie
We have had this book for years, and year after year we bring it out to review with our children the Biblical stories we do not want them to forget. I find that the wording that was chosen is not as childish as many Bible reading book so my older children are engaged and while also keeping my younger children focused. The illustrations are helpful and very beautifully done. I highly recommend giving this book a try to reinforce these important Bible stories to your family.
Solid Biblical Overview
Review by Kathleen C
As a homeschool mom, I appreciate resources that make Bible study both engaging and manageable, and The 10 Minute Bible Journey delivers exactly that. Each reading is short enough to fit into a busy school day, yet rich enough to spark meaningful discussion with my kids. The book does a wonderful job presenting the overarching story of Scripture in a way that feels connected and easy to understand, even for younger learners. I also love the full-color illustrations and timelines—they help my children visualize where each event fits in the bigger picture of God’s story. This has quickly become one of our favorite morning devotion resources, and I highly recommend it for families wanting a simple but solid biblical overview.
Good for Middle Elementary and Up
Review by JC
This book is a good overview of major Bible events for children. It could be used as a devotional or homeschool supplement. They do keep it child friendly, even with difficult subjects such as David's and Bathsheba. However, it would be best utilized for mid to upper elementary. It's even the text for Language Lessons 6. At my children's age, we don't use it much yet, but I anticipate our family growing into it.
A good devotional
Review by CRill
A daily Bible story with scripture reading suggestions. Its a good introduction to popular Bible stories and encourages getting in the Word. This is a good devotional for kids ad/or families but its not for those wanting to dig deeper.
Visually Attractive Introduction to the Bible
Review by BuildingontheRock
The 10-Minute Bible Journey gives a thorough, summarized overview of the Bible. The Table of Contents reflects an expansion on the 7Cs of History biblical, historical timeline to include Covenant, Commandments, Crown, Captivity, and Christian Era. Fifty-two summary readings cover the main events of the Bible. Each one is illustrated with a colorful, attractive visual page. The primary Scripture passage is used as a reference for further reading, a key verse is highlighted, and a suggested prayer wraps up the day’s reading. Each summary includes key details of the biblical account and appropriate tie-ins to the Lord Jesus Christ, the New Testament, or practical application for personal life. Bonus sections address additional topics like angels and the Ice Age. A suggested Bible reading plan is included in the back of the book to encourage reading through the Bible after reading its overview in The 10-Minute Bible Journey. Endnotes with references for further study are included at the back of the book. One of the digital versions allows these references to be linked directly through the digital device. This book would be useful in a variety of ways: as a general introduction to the Bible for a new believer or older child, a baptismal gift, and for family or individual devotions.
Wonderful resource
Review by Samantha
These beautifully depicted, Bible based stories are a lovely way to walk through the Word of God from Day one. The incredible art work and wonderful story telling make it continually engaging and easy to understand the stories of the Bible. The scripture references in the “Primary Passages” and “Key Verse” make it easy to dig into the stories further on your own. The “Wrap up” is a great way to increase understanding and create a dialogues with the Lord on each story.
Great Summary
Review by Shannon
We have used this devotional/summary twice now. My two older boys used it with their Language Lessions for a living Education 6 book and we will use it again with my youngest. This is a great summary of key Bible passages from Genesis to Revelation. After every summary the key Bible verse is listed along with additional reference verses for further study and a wrap-up devotional section. I love that this is informative while also being easy to read, especially for the early middle school aged kids. Each passage has a date with it so you can see where each story is in history as well as a pull out time line in the back. This summary also contains a Bible reading plan and helpful tips for family/small group study.
a good resource
Review by Jessica
My kids have enjoyed reading the Bible stories. Easy to understand!
So glad I previewed and didn't hand this to my sons.
Review by blessedmom
As I thumbed through excited to see this resource I was shocked what I found the focus to be in multiple places. We believe in reading the entire Bible and do not shy away from any topic. My concern comes in when a cartoon picture and phrase/caption with the picture is focused on sexual themes. Using words as "seduced" and "seduction" on the story of Joseph's one picture when God did so much in his life beyond dealing with Potiphar's wife. Isaiah's picture having a focus of being naked, really? With only 52 stories, so 52 pictures and phrases, with at least 4 (Adam & Eve; Joseph; Isaiah; David) being sexually focused I find something wrong. When you have to choose one thing to create a picture to represent the story, why did you choose these? I am so thankful I didn't give this over to my boys to focus on pictures and phrases that are sexually focused. We live in a world that has plenty they have to turn away from or choose not to look at. They (and I) should not have to worry about that in our Bible devotional from a Christian company. Unfortunately, any good that may be in this book is lost when in 30 seconds the inappropriate focus comes out. To check myself I simply handed it to my husband, without saying anything, and the first concern I came to he immediately commented on. It is this obvious.
Great Bible Lessons!
