A Must-Have Book Set!
Review by Michelle C.
If you want a bundle of books that remind you of your “why” for homeschooling, this is it! This set of books is for new-to-homeschool moms and veteran-homeschool moms alike. These books are loaded with Biblical wisdom, encouragement, and well-researched information. I plan to keep these books nearby as I plan to re-read and reference them throughout my homeschooling journey.

Courage to Stand profiles characters from history and how their courage to stand for their faith relates to our lives today. The author also includes many application sections throughout each chapter. This book was a delight to read because I enjoyed the stories, and the application sections were so timely and encouraging in today’s culture. I didn’t read this book with my children as they are still young, but I think this book could absolutely be read with older mature students.

Answers for Homeschooling is a must-read for all homeschool parents. It addresses 25 common and sometimes challenging questions that both parents and critics ask. The author discusses each question through a Biblical perspective with wisdom and grace. I personally love to ask questions, so this book has become a favorite on my homeschool shelf. I’m in my 6th year of homeschooling and I still reference back to this book when I find myself asking some of these questions.

Education: Does God Have an Opinion is unlike any other book I’ve seen. The first few chapters helped solidify some of my reasons for homeschooling. The author then dives into the core subjects of education to teach us how every subject not only is related to God in some way, but that every subject can be and should be taught through a Biblical worldview. Even math that is often seen as neutral, screams of a Creator, and should be taught to glorify Him. This is one of the first books I read that helped me better understand that educating our children is truly up to the parents and not the government.

Pitchin' a Fit is like a Swiss army knife for the parent who struggles with anger. It is an amazing tool with many purposes. Having kids and homeschooling are two things that sometimes trigger anger in me that I didn’t realize I had. This book has helped me dig deep into why I get angry, what triggers my anger and how to overcome it. And it does this through a Biblical approach. I enjoyed hearing from Brooke throughout the book and the “Questions to Consider” at the end of most chapters are very beneficial. Even if you’re not someone who struggles with anger, there is still so much insight in this book and many tools that can be implemented to help prevent angry behavior in both you and your kids.

I highly recommend these books to every homeschooling family. New homeschool moms would greatly benefit from these resources as they embark on their new journey. But even those of us who have been doing this for a while, still need tools and encouragement from time to time. These four books have become some of my favorite books on my homeschool shelves.
