"Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson has found the Rosetta Stone of human history." Ken Ham, CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis, the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, and the world-renowned Ark Encounter

What happened to the ancient Egyptians? When their civilization fell, did the Egyptian people disappear? Or do their descendants exist to this day? What about the ancient Persians? Romans? Mayans?

For years, the answers to these questions have been hidden. But no more. Nathaniel T. Jeanson, a Harvard graduate with a Ph.D. in cell and developmental biology, has discovered a DNA-based, generation by generation family tree for global humanity. This tree uncovers the origin and fate of these ancient peoples—and connects them to peoples alive today.

“…a ground-breaking book…likely to become a classic.”
Ola Hössjer, PhD, Professor of Mathematical Statistics, Stockholm University, Sweden

“…pulls the curtain back further on the mystery of early human history using genetics, history, and linguistics”
Les Bruce, PhD, retired research specialist, Summer Institute of Linguistics International

The fascinating research presented in Traced has additional far-reaching consequences for numerous contemporary debates:

  • Race: Traced shows that the races have changed multiple times in human history. Thus, “white”, “black”, “Asian” and other common descriptors lose their meaning in light of modern genetics.
  • Prehistory: Traced reveals that today’s Native Americans were not the first but replaced earlier inhabitants whose genealogical origins remain unknown.
  • History and origin of minority groups: The genetics in Traced restores the indigenous histories to many obscure people groups and connects them back to specific ancestors in Genesis 10.
  • The age of the earth: Traced represents one of the strongest arguments in print for the recent origin of humanity.
  • Biblical authority: Historically, young-earth creationists have sought to defend biblical authority from scientific attacks; Traced puts biblical authority on offense.

Dive into the wild and emerging field of historical genetics and see how these recent discoveries on the fate of ancient civilizations end up uncovering the story of the whole world. Traced: Human DNA’s Big Surprise will inspire, not only budding historians, archaeologists, geneticists, linguists, and anthropologists, but anyone interested the marvelous and messy story of humankind.

Highly technical but highly interesting.
Review by Candice
I am not sure my teen would be able to read this with a whole lot of comprehension, but I found it a fascinating treatment of genetics over different cultures and history. Really fascinating. Don’t read it while you are tired. It will take your whole brain to comprehend.
Great Book
Review by JW
This book was so interesting. It has charts and color charts for a better understanding of the information. It also has a summary at the end of each chapter that helps bring it all together. Definitely worth reading for a better understanding of our DNA history.
Genetics and history
Review by Lyn
This book was such an interesting read. Some of it was a little over my head. The author has a summary box included at the end of each chapter. This was such a huge help for the chapters I struggled a bit to understand. The author has done a wonderful job of writing this book in a style that I think most people can understand. Included are color charts that really help bring the visual aspect to all the genetic and historical graphs the author writes about. I have the ebook version which does make it a bit harder when ‘turning pages’ to refer to the color charts but not impossible. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I started researching my history tree when I was a teen (over 20 years ago) and tried to link that to historical events when it came to why my family immigrated to America. This book is amazing when it comes to linking genetics to civilizations that have long disappeared and various historical events. I received this e-book free in exchange for my honest review.
The Y chromosome mutation rates confirm a recent origin of humanity
Review by Kathleen
This book answers the questions about ancient civilizations. Where did the people come from and where did they go when that civilization collapsed?
The author uses color plates (maps, charts and pictures) to visually explain every topic. It really helped him to get a real picture and understanding of what he was referring to throughout the book.
This book shows how the Y chromosome mutation rates confirm a recent human history. It is further proof of the biblical account of human civilization.
Great read….very interesting.

Excellent Work
Review by Sea Otter
After having watched videos related to this book, I was very much looking forward to the day when I could receive a copy of Traced. I am so very glad the day arrived! I would like to recommend this book, not only to those who have exceeded in their scientific fields, but also to anyone interested in our world-wide big family tree and the history behind it! No matter where we come from, Traced informs or reminds the readers, in a most thoughtful and compelling way, with relatable stories, insightful maps, scientific data and more, that we are part of a grandiose family. Yes, this world-wide family has seen it's dysfunctional times, and Traced does not shy away from that obvious fact, but anyone who reads this book should be able to see the heart of it, in that it seeks peace that comes from knowing the truth. It is a rare gift, that with the evidence of countless hours of excellent work put into a treasure such as this, comes a humble spirit, and yet that humble spirit is much needed in the modern scientific world, and thankfully it is also evident in this treat for the mind. I am very grateful to have received a complimentary copy so that I could have the privilege of reviewing this excellent book!
Y haplogroups and history
Review by Rod
This book is an excellent evidence-based treatment tying genetics to history.
A fascinating read correlating Y haplogroup changes over time to human migration.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in history and genealogy, and how that relates to genetics.
