More Information
Most geography courses cover the world. This one helps your student see it — through the lens of the faith you're building at home.
From towering mountains and frozen ice sheets to deserts, oceans, and remote islands, this high school geography textbook shows how geography shapes life across every continent and how creation points back to its Creator.
What Students Will Learn
High schoolers taking World Geography and Cultures will build map skills and deepen geographic awareness as they:
- Explore every continent through its landforms, climates, wildlife, and natural processes — all viewed through the lens of biblical history.
- Discover how geography shapes the way people live, work, trade, and govern themselves across vastly different cultures.
- Study the world's most significant natural features, including oceans, glaciers, volcanoes, deserts, and mountain ranges.
- Examine real-world social issues through a biblical lens, considering how Christians are called to respond.
- See God's fingerprints in creation, from the most populated cities to the most remote corners of the earth.
- Throughout the course, students are encouraged to think critically about geography by asking questions, making connections, and praying for people groups—all within the context of a Christian worldview.
Bottom line: With World Geography and Cultures, geography becomes more than facts from an atlas or almanac; it becomes the fascinating story of God's creation and humanity's place within it.
Textbook Features
Through stunning photography, helpful diagrams, data charts, a wide variety of maps, and concise textual explanations, teens will deepen their understanding of geography and cultures and be motivated to explore further on their own.
Character, Curiosity, and Compassion
This course was designed with more than academic goals in mind. As students encounter diverse cultures, social challenges, and people groups around the world, they are invited to develop compassion, perspective, and a growing awareness of needs beyond their own experience. Themes of stewardship and responsibility run throughout the regional studies, encouraging students to think carefully about how people care for the land and one another. Perhaps most importantly, the course was built to protect what matters most in a young learner: curiosity, wonder, and a genuine desire to keep exploring.

Customer Reviews
From what he shared, the lessons were straightforward and easy to follow without a lot of extra explanation from me. He liked that they weren’t overly long or overwhelming, and I appreciated that he stayed consistent with it without needing much prompting. He also mentioned that it went beyond just maps and included interesting information about cultures and different parts of the world, which helped him come away with a broader understanding of the material.
Overall, it was a solid, low-stress course that allowed my high schooler to work independently while still learning meaningful content.
I would not use this without the Teacher Guide. Two things MB does exceptionally well is their beautiful graphics and their open-and-go Teacher Guides. The guide makes it so easy and just like other things I have used by MB it is almost like a Guide/Student Workbook. You can just use it as your workbook if you had one student and money was no object. I LOVE that the guide also has optional extra activities planned out, but since they are obviously labeled as optional you can scale for your student or pick and choose. Excellent curriculum!
Unfortunately, the book lacks clear chapter or lesson numbers at the start of each section, which can make navigation a bit challenging. However, the pages are clearly titled with various topics or countries, which helps the reader understand what each page covers.
With a variety of information and captivating pictures throughout, this course is engaging for both high school students and possibly even advanced middle schoolers. It offers a fresh and insightful approach to learning geography, leaving a lasting impact and helping students see the world through God's eyes.
The Student Text for World Geography & Cultures is written directly to the student in a clear, engaging voice. Rather than emphasizing memorization of capitals, mountain ranges, or isolated facts, the text consistently points students toward understanding how geography, culture, history, economy, and belief systems all fit together.
The pages are organized and filled with full color pictures and helpful charts. Key words are highlighted throughout, making them easy to locate and reference during assignments.
I loved the inclusion of prayer points on days when students read about the religions of various countries. I believe this is an excellent course choice for families looking for a meaningful, thorough, and flexible geography credit from a biblical worldview.
The workbook does a good job of testing information retention and I believe this course in its entirety sets students up for success. This will definitely be one we use for all of our children.
This is not a boring textbook about latitude and longitude, climates, etc. While you will learn map skills and study forms of government, cultures, languages, economy, and more, the heart of the curriculum is about God being glorified in every area - literally!
With each page of vivid photography, maps, charts, and descriptions, it’s like you get to go on a virtual adventure across the globe seeing how God is and has been at work from the very beginning of creation providing for His creatures both physically and spiritually. You will see how sin has marred creation, how the flood impacted the whole geography of the world, and how the language confusion at Babel dispersed people groups geographically (and thus why there is a great need for Bible translators!). And you will have immediate application to what you learn as you are encouraged to pray specifically for the various prayer points for each region.
This book also shows you how practical geography is - for instance, how much the natural resources and climate shape a nation and culture. And I found it fascinating to think how geography shaped the road system and trade routes for the good news of the gospel to travel rapidly.
This course is not just about facts, it is about souls - both the souls of people around the world, and especially the soul of each student who studies this material. Consider this quote: “Throughout this course, you will see charts that show the religious makeup of each country. These numbers are not just statistics; they represent people. Every percentage is a group of souls who need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. As you learn about their beliefs and their needs, ask God how He might use you to pray, care, and maybe even go. The world is full of people who are searching. Jesus is still calling them - one heart at a time.”
