One to skip
Review by Lisa
I used intermediate lvl writing strands for my middle schooler and I thought it was really great. We decided to get the first beginner book for my 5th grader, since that's what's recommended. She is not an advanced writer and I would say she is average as far as academics go. We did NOT like the first book at all. It was so basic and boring. It felt like she was never going to actually do any writing. I even tried skipping ahead to further in the book and it didn't really improve that much. So after a few weeks we ditched it and got the next level up, beginning 2 and from the very beginning it's much more interesting and helpful. I would recommend to skip this book and go straight to the next level.
Good Program
Review by Lindsay
I have noticed, through church, writing is a skill that most students are lacking. This is a great program to help with that. However, I greatly missed language lessons for a living education.
We enjoyed it
Review by shun
My son used this because at the time there was not another LA lessons for a living level to go to. I did enjoy being able to choose his own literature, so he was introduced to a couple of great novels. We are excited to get back to LA lessons for a living for this next school year. The good thing about this curriculum is that it gives just enough for each lesson and introduces the information in an easy format. I liked the charts used to categorize the books of the bible and understanding the different types of literature. I think it may still be a good addition to use along side our Language arts for a living curriculum that we will begin.
Pretty Good
Review by El
Overall, I am happy with this book. Unfortunately, since my son writes such short answers to get the lesson done, I wish there were more detailed questions to get a little more detailed answers. He is definitely writing better than when we started!
Would Recommend!

The lessons are gentle, and easy to understand.
Good solid program

I really liked this course but it wasn't a good fit for my daughter. She really loved LLFALE and this course just didn't click for her. We are both very excited that Master
books just released level 7 of LLFALE.
Wonderful

My daughter has loved using this program. I give her the option to use whatever chapter books she chooses whether from my shelf or the library and she has flown through the curriculum and her writing level has increased tremendously!!
Looks like it will be great!
Review by Emily
We just started Writing Strands: Beginning 1. While the beginning is pretty basic, it looks like it is going to be a great aid in helping my son to become a better writer.
Awesome

My daughter loves these writing assignments
Not a good fit
Review by Jenna
It wasn't a good fit for my 5th grader. He is advanced in a lot of areas but writing isn't one of them. We decided to hold off on this curriculum after using for 6 weeks. We will try to use it again in the next year or 2. I just believe he wasn't ready for it. I would love to see a list of recommended books to go along with this curriculum.
